    Playing Under the Influence

When I first starting playing seriously at age 33 I was smoking nearly every time I played. I knew it was most likely detrimental to playing my best but I continued. My last league season after a hand injury I didn’t partake and honestly I played better. Now that I’m playing again and...

    9ft vs 7ft

Undoubtedly a 9’ foot table if you have the proper space. Having a 9 foot Gold Crown has always been my dream. Running a 100+ balls playing Straight Pool is my goal. A 7 foot table doesn’t work for me. On the other hand my brother does not have the room for a 9 footer and is really only...

Stupid pool question of the day

To me it’s what I find that I like and adjust to. So far I’ve had 2 cues I’ve used predominantly, including to break. A Southwest for my first go around of playing. Which incidentally I sold it because I blamed a slump on it when in reality it was a hand injury. I never liked the cue I replaced...

How many cues? Why so many?

I’ve had a handful of cues over the years. Most notable were 4 Southwest, one being my main player for my first round of playing pool. A JossWest and some others. I’ve always have liked sneakies. For my comeback to pool my player right now is a Josey ebony/bem sneaky. I also carry a Scruggs...

    Green Fee For League?

I happily pay a green fee(included in my weekly league fee)for my 8 Ball league on 9’ Diamonds and Straight Pool league on Gold Crowns. The 8 Ball league even includes money for the league operator who without question runs the best league I have ever played in. This after being in VNEA league...

if you dont play it and cant watch onepocket

I find one pocket very interesting to watch with good players even though I don’t full understand the game. I intend on learning and playing the game in the future. I do have Tom Wirth’s book that I’ve lightly browsed. Right now Straight Pool is what I’m focused on and improved skill level in...

How many of you own a sneaky pete?

I’ve always liked Sneaky Pete’s. I don’t hustle and gamble for small amounts when I do. I’ve been using a Josey Sneaky for over 2 years and it’s probably the best cue I’ve had. A few months ago I picked up a very nice Scruggs Sneaky having always wanting one. I used it last night playing on a...

Preferred Cloth Color For Tournament Tables

I’ve always liked green and my table is currently covered in Simonis green. I will be going to Tournament blue when the table needs to be recovered. Sent from my iPhone using AzBilliards Forums

    14.1 high runs... be honest

I agree. My 27 is no big deal and not all that memorable especially as dozen ball runs started happening with some regularity with the occasional 20ish run. Damn sure I run even 50 and progress even higher I’m going to remember it. Sent from my iPhone using AzBilliards Forums

    14.1 high runs... be honest

Thanks Jeff! Good luck in your pursuit. I’ll be 53 in a few weeks. If I want to see a 100 in the foreseeable future I better get real serious about straight pool. 50 seems like an achievable number and at the same time a real accomplishment. Time to get back into the straight pool league. Sent...

    14.1 high runs... be honest

27 is my high run and admittedly I need to learn more about the game. I did play in a straight pool league for a year a couple years ago and had never played the game before. I haven’t played since either although I had come to the conclusion that there is no better game. It’s hard to beat the...

Switched to harder tip and started to play bad

Previously when I played I had always used harder tips. When I started playing again I found hard tips too hard and started playing with a softer tip than before. After a couple years back I’m back to a harder tip. Thoroughbred medium hard to be exact. Sent from my iPhone using AzBilliards Forums

    Choosing a new/used table

I agree. As far as 7 footers go a Diamond or Valley is your best choice. Me personally nothing but a Diamond in a 7 footer would do. Sent from my iPhone using AzBilliards Forums

Your GC 5 or 6 pics

My thoughts exactly. Although I'd have my GC IV in the garage with my '65 Biscayne if it was the only place for my table.
