    Instructors vs Bangers Reality Show

That would be a very big house to contain 120 people and at least 40 tables, assuming a 9 ft and a 7 ft table for each of the 20 teams. I would set my DVD to record it and then skip through the commercials.

    Did I do wrong?

I guess he may have the right to use immature junior high language. But he shows even less class by not stopping. I outgrew that language at about age 19. You did the right thing.

Would you be willing to dress nice to raise the opinion of billiards?

One year, at the SD State 8 Ball tournament. A former Champion showed up for the early rounds wearing a tuxedo to play a match against a home town guy. He stepped away from a wedding to run a couple racks and then left. I dressed up a couple times for Sunday morning team matches. One was...

    play safe or shoot?

Some people get sooo lucky to always have a good shot after they make a ball.

I don't consider pool on a bar table to be pool

I disagree with the comment on 7 foot tables. I play on the Valley bar boxes most of the time. I loved playing on the 9 foot Brunswick tables while at SD State 23 years ago, but haven't got back on track with them at a local Center. On the other hand, I would stay far away from 6 foot tables.

    Disrespect?

It might be more disrespectful to take a two rail bank or other low percentage shot when there is a lock down safe available for him. That shows they don't think I can run out.

Very unique hand carved pool cue on craigslist - $155

Looks similar to my first cue. A "Miller" cue with screw in tips and the extra rings near the butt end. I sanded the advertising off to reveal wood that looks just like this cue. I should have practiced word burning more if a $12 cue can be turned into this gem (that doesn't have a...

The missed shot that still haunts you....

I was in the 3rd/4th place match of the SD State B tournament. I was confident that if I won this match, the two remaining players would be easy to beat the way I was playing that weekend. It was the last game in a race to 3. I played a masse to move a ball that was about 6 inches from the...

    Illegal Subsitute - FORFEIT

Regarding the dress code: A well known young SD woman player was in Vegas (or Reno), and did not have the proper attire. The fix was to put on something that looked ragged after ripping on possibly a men's shirt to make it fit. It was much worse than the offending garment (halter top or too...

    8 Ball breaks

I break straight into the head ball and rarely make the 8. This past fall, I was practicing over my lunch hour at the American Legion near the office. In 6 sessions, playing 4 or 5 racks each, I made the 8 in the right corner four times, and it ended up really close once or twice. I made...

Doubles Advice, Playing w/ a much stronger Player?

I have played in a few doubles tournaments. One time, I chose a friend who couldn't make three consecutive shots to play in a University game room tournament. It was scotch doubles, and we ended up winning. The best match was playing against the two best players (on bar boxes). One time...

    Listening to music while playing

I looked for "My Ding a Ling" on the jukebox, but it was not available without paying for a search. I imagine that the whole place would stop playing and sing along. If I listened to an mp3 player, I might chose Stars and Stripes Forever on a repeating loop. At work, I have played a 10...

When's the last time you played for money at a bar?

It depends on the bar. Some places at 11:55, and other places it might be 1:55.

How would you like a tournament like this?

I think there was a one pocket in Des Moines last year with a $2,000 entry, and they had 16 players. It may have been a $1,000 entry. http://pooltogether.goplaypool.com/press-releases-for-hunter.html

    Distributing league session prize money?

In most of the VNEA leagues I have played in, the team divided up the money per point. Total received by the team was determined by the total of points scored, so it seems fair that it continue on more level to the players. This does not reward showing up for the weaker players, so an...

    Challenge Ladder Type Loose Organization.

I set up a challenge competition way back in 1986 at my local hangout. Called it Top Gun. I used a 1 x 4 with nails positioned to support the plexiglass nametags. A player could challenge someone one or two places above them in a race to 3 (8 ball) for 50 cents, which went into a jar. If...

If you ever catch me wearing a pool glove...

I was happy to get the apron, and a teammate gave me his. There was often a black line on my jeans after playing for a while. But at 6' 5", it did me no good as far as keeping my pants clean. The tables hit my legs a couple inches below it. I never saw anyone wear one since then, however I...

    Masse or Jump shot?

Back in the 70's at a local qualifying tournament for State, a referee watched all the games and called all fouls. One drunk ref called a foul on my brother saying the ball left the table. The cue ball hopped a bit and was about 4 or 5 inches above the felt but stayed on the table. Booze...

If you ever catch me wearing a pool glove...

How about wearing an apron? VNEA gave away one to each participant in the early 90's in Vegas or Reno.
