Yes, the gaboon is just sealed and the Macassar is more brown than black. With sealer the macassar gets darker but not black.

I’d also be surprised if the predator your friend has is real ebony. Predator has painted a lot of cues.

Ebony can have all kinds of variation or streaking. It doesn’t mean the wood isn’t good quality, just not as visually appealing as the jet black stuff. If it wasn’t advertised as jet black, I don’t see an issue. Did the listing say it was supposed to be African ebony?

Years ago I had some nice clean LBM ferrule material. When I ran out and re ordered the batch was similar to this, full of pits. When finishing or sanding I always sealed them first. Since then I’ve changed to a different material.

That’s not ivory, you can clearly see the weave…looks like ivorine 3 and is usually porous.

These are the ones made for me, they look pretty similar. You need a spacer behind the chuck so it doesn’t bind on the housing.

I don’t believe they do. I have 2 that were custom made. With the amount of work it takes I’m guessing a $150 chuck would turn into $700-1000 chuck real quick unless you can do it yourself.

I just made a 60” jump cue, always hated jumping with a short cue. Weighs 13.8 oz and workin to make it a little lighter. Even on close jumps I don’t see the need to have shorter.
