    Objective v/s Subjective aiming

I may be wrong, but I would define objectivity in aiming systems as being provable using geometry or any other math or physics, thus eliminating user error/subjectivity.

WTB: Wood-backed slate for 9' Gold Crown 1 in NJ

Thanks. At this point, although it would be nice to have a nice flat set, I'm just not up for spending the money. Unless you're selling it really really cheap, that is. I got another mechanic in and he quickly adjusted the severe roll-off that the previous mechanic left. The previous...

Why videos are too imprecise to show pivots

Thanks for your reply, Stan. So would you say that with your experience that you don't need to pivot at all, even visually, because you simply see the correct shot line while standing?

Why videos are too imprecise to show pivots

John, I just watched your video. First, let me thank you for probably the best video I've seen from your side of the seemingly unending debate. I avoid following the threads, because it feels like a waste of time after realizing that the debate hasn't gotten much closer to a conclusion since the...

Why videos are too imprecise to show pivots

I hadn't seen it. But I'll check it out. Thanks.

Why videos are too imprecise to show pivots

I drew these up in Geogebra to show just how small the range for center cue ball is from straight shots to ultra thin shots from various distances between cue ball and object ball. We have to precisely place our cue tip within these ranges to find center cue ball for every shot from straight to...

Fractional aiming zones - new system

I just watched the videos you posted in the last week or so. Excellent, Brian! I was wondering about the spot and how 20-20 doesn't add up, but you explained it very well. Thanks!

Worldwide popularity of cue sports statistics?

Does anyone have any numbers of how many people play which cue sports around the world?

CTE I finally I have seen the light

Cool. That's great that he used a camera over his eyes. I still haven't given CTE Pro One a try, but I have a question about the first two shots in his video. The first shot is obviously steeper than 30 degrees (outside of half-ball), but he says it's a 30 degree reference. Am I right in...

Fractional aiming zones - new system

I think this is so important and infuriating when it's off. You can have a great stroke, know where to aim and to point the cue ball and cue, and then you get down over the cue with your eyes a little off of perfect, and everything starts falling apart. I guess everything falls apart when any of...

    No Aiming System?

I'm using your system pretty regularly now, so I can vouch for Poolology. For the majority of the shots one will face, it's a very quick and easy check to determine what ball fraction to use. Brian, you might want to put a link in your signature for those who might be interested.

Fractional aiming zones - new system

Okay, if 30 is halfway between 40 and the center line of the table, what would be the value of the center line itself? I love this system. I find it especially helpful and easy for break shots in straight pool. So many of them fall around 14 to 22 for position values, and it's so easy to pin...

Fractional aiming zones - new system

For me, it's about double-checking. Having several tools can only help. This one doesn't get in the way of ghost ball or contact points or CTE or whatever. It's good stuff that just adds more confidence.

Fractional aiming zones - new system

Thanks. I follow most of this. One more question, Brian. For side pocket shots where the object ball is of the 40/60/80 type but is below 40 as a position value, how do you determine the position value? There seems to be a no-man's land area on your diagram.

Fractional aiming zones - new system

I got to the table today to try it all out, and it worked out very well for a lot of shots. There are a handful of ball orientations that I encountered that didn't quite pan out, but even if you only use it to help finding 3/4, 1/2 ball, and the in-between shots, it's truly invaluable. The math...

Fractional aiming zones - new system

Wonderful! Brian, I just bought and finished reading the book. I am amazed by what you've come up with here! It's too late tonight for me to start practicing on the table, but I look forward to it this weekend. Hey, everyone. Get this book before Brian wises up and starts charging what it's...

Anyone had table work done by Lanza Billiards?

Ed Lanza saved me about $1000 today I just have to let people in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area know that Ed Lanza of Lanza Billiards saved me about $1000 today. Sadly, during the holidays he was too swamped to do my Gold Crown 1 install, so I called other installers who work the area...

    No new pinned slate?

I asked locally about new slate for my Gold Crown I, and I was told that new slate doesn't come with pins anymore. Is this the case, and if so, isn't keeping the seems from vertical shift an issue?

    Run This (69)

After originally posting the layout I had second thoughts about it. I was a bit hasty on this one. I also didn't know what Corteza would do, but I knew he got to 225, so I figured there was a solution in there somewhere. Now I see that the solution was to scramble.
