Stevie Moore parallel shots CTE video

I was away from this forum for about 7 years, and we were arguing over CTE back then. It appears that 7 years has passed, and the debate hasn't convinced either side to concede. It's just like the political debates over the last couple of years. Both sides can get vicious, and no one changes...

    Gold Crown II Repainting Questions

I just bought a Gold Crown II, and the previous owner stripped most of the old paint from the ball box and apron wings at the foot of the table. Also, it looks like all of the aprons were originally blue and have been poorly repainted brown. I am going to have the table set up in about two or...

Anyone had table work done by Lanza Billiards?

I live close to them in South Jersey, and I see that the few discussions here about them have to do with vintage Victor brand tables. But I'd like to hear from anyone who has had any experience with them as table mechanics. Thanks

    Table-Buying Dilemma

Yeah, I was a tad concerned about that. The person who did the rail work thinks the corners will measure in at about 4 3/8".

    Table-Buying Dilemma

Bought One Today So I bought a Gold Crown today. Thank you everyone for convincing me to wait for a deal on one and avoid the Gandys. I obviously didn't wait long! I picked up everything but the slates, 2 long aprons, and 2 long frame pieces. In the next couple of weeks I'll arrange for a...

14.1 instructional run of 80 balls.

Thanks, arnaldo. Now I remember that. I had both, and now I can't find any of the pool videos I used to own.

    Table-Buying Dilemma

Good to know, book collector. Thanks. I am probably going to end up with a Gold Crown tomorrow.

    Table-Buying Dilemma

Any idea what rubber this is? The seller doesn't recall what brand he used.

    Table-Buying Dilemma

Thanks guys. I am in the process of buying the $1500 Gold Crown II. It's about a half hour away, and I'm going to look at it tomorrow.

    Table-Buying Dilemma

I'm just trying to keep under my budget of $2000. I'm not saying I'm broke. If I buy a $950 table, have it transported for $675, that leaves me some money to buy a stupid ball return. I can't imagine playing straight pool and not having a ball return.

    Table-Buying Dilemma

After my experience the other day I have an irrational fear of doing this myself and transporting slate. I know it should be easy, but I'm feeling old and weak all of a sudden. :frown:

    Table-Buying Dilemma

How much would a ball box and ball return system cost to convert the drop pocket table?

    Table-Buying Dilemma

It is a disassembled table nearby, but from a trustworthy gold member here on AZB forums. The rails were extended to tighten the pockets and new rubber put on with the new 860 HR felt. The bed cloth is new and hasn't been installed yet.

    Table-Buying Dilemma

Thanks, everyone. This table is definitely a consideration! But I also just got a lead on a Gold Crown II for $500 more with a ball return, which is sort of a necessity being strictly a straight pool player. It also happens to have brand new 860 HR on it. Even if both of these tables fall...

    Table-Buying Dilemma

Thanks. It's about 2 and 1/2 hours away. Does anyone know how much it typically costs for a pool mechanic to travel to disassemble and then reassemble from that distance?

    Table-Buying Dilemma

Wow. I didn't think it would be such a strong consensus toward the Gold Crown, but it must mean something. It makes me wonder what's so bad about other tables that are set up properly. I guess I'll be patient and look for a great deal on a Gold Crown. I just haven't seen anything come close to...

    Table-Buying Dilemma

Thanks, but if I can't afford to fix it up?

    Table-Buying Dilemma

I'm looking for a 9' table for my basement. On this forum there is a lot of encouragement to go with Gold Crowns and Diamonds, but if someone has a budget of say $2,000 for a fully set up table with Simonis 860HR cloth, I haven't seen any options anywhere near me in South Jersey. All Gold Crowns...

14.1 instructional run of 80 balls.

This is the way straight pool instructionals should be commentated. I remember suggesting it to John Schmidt back before he was about to do his first DVD. He ended up overdubbing after the run, which was still very good, but he didn't remember everything and wasn't at the table to see the exact...
