2016 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

Thanks Dr Dave and Side Pocket. Side pocket, your table is insanely tough now, especially since it's a 10 footer. But judging by your other videos, something tells me you'll put a 10 pack together against the ghost sooner rather than later.

2016 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

9 pack vs ghost Caught a stroke today and beat the ghost 7 - 0. Kept going and wound up with a 9 pack. Got poor position & missed the 9 in the 10th rack. I have been wanting to shut him out for a while now. Squandered a couple of 5 - 0 leads in the past, but finally got it today...

    Why pay to recover table

I bought a 9 foot table and ended up setting it up myself, with money being one of the major factors in that decision, and I have no regrets. RKC's guide to leveling 3 piece slate worked like a charm (Sticky thread in table mechanics section). I bought the RKC Simonis dvd set for bed and...

2016 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

I've been getting my butt kicked by the 10 ball ghost for the last two weeks until I finally got him 7-6 this past Sunday. Got lucky with a 2-10 combo in the first rack. Also got out of line in rack 3, but got lucky to kick the 4 ball in. Before this win, my closest was a 4-7 loss. 10 ball...

2016 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

Side Pocket, sorry to here you weren't able to warm up before your match with Dennis Hatch. You still got 3 games off him without even being in stroke, that's still pretty darn good. I haven't watched the video yet, but 7-2 against the 9b pro ghost is STRONG!

    65 Grand Prix Wrong Cushions?

nine o nine, I do not have a profile photo of my cushions. I'm hesitant to make a drawing for you since I'm not a table mechanic, and I don't want to give you specs that are incorrect. I would suggest posting for help in the "talk to a mechanic" forum, as there are some very knowledgeable...

    65 Grand Prix Wrong Cushions?

1968rt, Disclaimer: I am not a table mechanic, and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but.... The Brunswick Superspeed cushions currently on your table are k-55, so are not the correct profile for your sub-rails. To the best of my understanding, even if they have brute...

    65 Grand Prix Wrong Cushions?

1968rt, I have a 1960's AMF Grand Prix as well, great table! The original cushion are Master Fast K 66 made by Raybestos Manhattan in NJ. By all accounts they were some of the best cushions ever made. Mine are original and still play very well. With proper cushions, the table should not...

2016 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

Thanks Player. This was my best win against the ghost so far. If I win, and that's a big if, it's usually a 7-5 or 7-6 score. Now I have a new score to try and beat.

2016 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

Ok, finally decided to give this a shot and make a video playing the ghost. I've really enjoyed watching the videos others have posted so far. I bought a table and set it up last November, after not playing at all for 2 years. I am finally playing enough to give the ghost some competition. I...

    The Pleasure of Small Motions

I second "The Inner Game of Tennis". If you've ever had a session where you were just "in the zone" and couldn't miss, this book will help to explain that phenomenon, and also teach you how to get there more often.

Show us your HOME ROOMS !!

Thanks Ken & Dead Money. I really enjoyed the process of getting the table set up, and now it's great to have my own place to play. I had been away from the game for the last two years, but it's been great getting back into it!

Show us your HOME ROOMS !!

Here is my new addition to the basement. I just finished setting up the 1960's AMF Grand Prix 9' table I bought back in June. I found it on Craigslist, and after doing some research on AZ about the quality of the table, decided to go for it. Got a great deal on the table, light, cue rack and...

need some help / info re: college pool teams

You can take University of Pittsburgh off of that list unfortunately. I was president of the Billiards Club my Sr. year in 2004. The club survived for another year or two, then was denied funding by the student activities counsel. In addition, the management of the William Pitt Student Union...

Road trip through CT/MA/NH areas: pool halls?

If you're going to be in Wallingford, CT it will be easy to stop by Yale Billiards, they're right in Wallingford. They've got about 15 9' Gold Crowns. One table up front is shimmed and plays pretty tight, table 4 I believe. I played their the most when I lived in the area.

    Confidence

^ This. Read "The Inner Game of Tennis". I was coming off a 2 1/2 year layoff from the game, and after 6 months of playing, was becoming frustrated with my inability to regain my old form. I picked the book up, and feel that it was a big contributing factor to not only achieving my old level...

How did you first start to play pool?

I got started banging balls around in high school at a local pool hall, not too many serious players, it was mostly a high school hang out. We just hit balls into rails and thought we were a lot better than we really were. Another buddy had a table in his basement, so we would play a couple...

    in the chair...and positive thinking...

I haven't read the books previously mentioned, and I'm sure some of the content may be similar, but I really enjoyed the book "The Inner Game of Tennis". I think it had a really positive impact on my mental game and consistently playing to the best of my abilities.
