What to do with a Unicorn - HRB 18" long?

Recently acquired a bit of a unicorn - a beautifully figured piece of Honduran Rosewood Burl - 18.5" x 1.5" x 1.3". Might make a bit of a thinner butt - that's okay. Really curious what the experts might do with this? All I can think of is widow style so no figure is lost...Any other ideas...

What is the best ferrule material

FWIW - a wet paper towel with a bit of baking soda cleans the old McD ferrules right up. Burnish your tip after, and good as new.

    Current project

Larry - two words. “Gor-geous”! What are those veneer colors - blue and green (like olive) but a dark and light tone together? Really nice. Keep it up!

    Please return the Tascarella

I chose no rings. Dean mentioned there were both with and without rings. Hoping Mr. Potter decides to get behind the lathe again to do some fancier work, then there will be rings...

    True Cost of a Southwest?

FWIW - I asked Laurie about selling / trading spots a year or so ago, as it was brought up in a possible deal. Her direct quote: “Glad you checked with me. Absolutely not done. I only deal with the person who placed the original order. What they do with their cue is up to them.” If you’re...

    Thank you Jerry -R- (Rauenzahn)

With Jerry retired (or very close to retiring), I wanted to take a second and say a public "Thank you" for many great cues and projects together...Jerry is a true gentleman to have worked with, and his "points of perfection" show and play wonderfully...Not to mention, he never missed a promise...

Can Practicing Exclusively on Tight Pocket Tables be a Detriment to Your Game?

I think of it like golf - when I go to the practice green, I go for short putts (2-3 footers), while others try to sink 20-30 footers. I want the short ones to build confidence. Seeing the ball go in the cup, hearing the drop, all gives me confidence I can do it on the course. On the course...

High Dollar (Euros, Pounds, Yen...) cues

I’ll echo what’s been said so far, and then add a new aspect. Tim Scruggs got me started on this journey in 1991. I walked into his shop as a kid, purchased a cue straight out of his catalog (the avatar photo), and knew nothing about cue design. He picked the veneers - Black / natural / red /...

    pool's greatest might-have-beens

Wow - there’s a name and pic that took me right back to my younger days. I always wondered what happened to him, had no clue he died young. I had the pleasure of drawing Chan first round in a junior 9-ball tourney at the Cue Corner (Pete Zsinkler’s (sp?) room in Downingtown, PA) years back...
