    List of Living 200+ Runners

Hi Steve, I don't know exact numbers but we should be able to find out. I think Mike Davis has a 239 and Jerry Slivka has a 232. Both were in front of many witnesses - I'll just have to find out who. Andy

Who's coming to the Maryland Straight Pool in June?

The tourney is shaping up to be quite an event! I heard through the grapevine that the following players will be there: Danny Harriman - last year's winner Dave Daya - last year's runner up Bob Maidhoff - won 2 years ago Mike Sigel - hall of famer, etc, etc Charlie Williams - didn't he win both...

Who's coming to the Maryland Straight Pool in June?

I was especially impressed because on Saturday I really took her down to my mediocre level and almost won. Then she completely catches a gear and plays fantastic and only lost cause Dave Daya mounted a huge comeback iirc. Andy

    2010 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

No problem! 3 racks on your first turn is a great feeling. And being a high run is really quite a feat. Keep it going! Andy

Maryland 2010 14.1 Straight Pool Championships

It's almost that time of year again! Straight pool in Maryland! Many big names have played this event in the past. Danny Harriman won it all last year defeating Dave Daya in the final. Jeanette Lee stormed into 3rd place last year. Other big names that have played in this event are: Mika...

    Show me your Snakewood

The points are the same Lacewood. Someone told me the other wood is tulipwood.

    Show me your Snakewood

Here's my Capone Custom Cue. I think it is Snakewood. Does anyone know for sure? Is there something called Lacewood? Maybe I'm confused!

Best 14.1 ball in hand break shot?

Yep, I understand. I think 50 per run 5 times in a row is very good. I'd be surprised if that didn't get you right into the mix at Valley Forge. Andy

    8, 9, 10 ball racking & breaking conflict resolved

Not a fan I'm not a fan of this at all. Random thoughts that come to mind: I think it equalizes the field. That's what handicapped leagues are for - not most tournaments. No doubt it is popular at any given tournament merely because 80% of the field doesn't have a realistic chance of winning...

Best 14.1 ball in hand break shot?

Methinks 250 is probably getting you into the 8 finalists! Very nice.

    One game against Segal

You do realize that they call Mike Sigel "The Mouth", right? Of course he can beat anyone in the world - he told me so himself! I like Dan but he's clearly biased since he's taking Sigel around. I think Dan is very impressed with the World Champion titles that Sigel has. I'm impressed too to...

    One game against Segal

Wedge: I don't think Bobby asked Mike to play again. There was no visible friction between the two and I'm pretty sure they all went down to Whispers to have dinner together. Andy

    One game against Segal

Mapman, I think you're mistaken. I just spent the afternoon with Sigel. He openly admits that he doesn't play straight pool anymore. Only practices for the World Tournament each year and hasn't done well there. I would put my money on Bobby without question if they were to play in a couple...

What's going on with this type of carom shot?

Many pool players misjudge 90 degrees on a pool table. You really just need to set a bunch up and estimate before shooting and then see your outcome. Reading a tangent line is very useful in straight pool for these carom shots and even more important for judging break shots. Andy

Mike Sigel 14.1 Seminar in MD

I'm signed up for this seminar next Saturday at Big Daddy's Billiards. I think 12 players are signed up so far. Andy

Do other players rub off on you

This happens to me all the time. I understand it completely but still can't seem to avoid it. My focus going into a match is wrong. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm better than my opponent. It's just a pool pecking order thing. The focus "should" be on winning the match - not about who is...

    How would you play this?

I would have made the one ball and just come off the rail about a diamond. Then make the spottted 3 ball and come 2 rails into the rack. If you miss the rack, play safe. I don't like the payoff for making that hard 3 ball. Making the 1 ball and getting the cue ball to hit the stack and not get...

    Stuck in the rack

I have to disagree with part of #2. No way will you stick when you hit between 2 balls in the stack. The cue ball will absolutely fly off the stack when you hit between 2 balls. You get stuck when you hit a single ball full with follow and there are 4 or 5 balls behind the ball you hit. You can...
