    Straight Edge Or Machinist Level?

have you seen this thread / sticky.? http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=54538 you need a carpenters level to put the machinist level on .... a carpenters level WILL NOT get the table level ....just not sensitive enough ... don't really know what the 9' straight edge is doing for you?

    Rail Cloth Tension?

i would be talking balls hit at extremely low speeds and very small angles so friction wouldn't be a factor. ...but that sounds like fun

    Rail Cloth Tension?

My question is with no cloth on the rail will the table bank normal? What I have heard from many people around here is that you pull the cloth until there is a dimple in the cushion then you staple slightly behind / ahead of where you are pulling and this will result in the perfect tension with...

    Rail Cloth Tension?

I think the first thing to do is to check rebound and angle with no cloth on the rails at all vs. with a "properly" stretched cloth. because if this result is negligible (which I am guessing it would be) then the testing can stop there .... i think more has to do with rubber type and rail...

    Tightening pockets

I thought stretching rubber was not a good thing to do? ....I think I read that you are just supposed to lay it on as is with no stretch? ...and If the rubber is backed how do you stretch the backed part the same as the unbacked parts? ....

    Tightening pockets

stretch the rubber? ...who told you this?.....the only way you can do this on the cheap is to add thicker facings ....which are unlikely to tighten the pockets as much as you want ....so subrail extensions have to happen, then new rubber then new cloth ....= expensive ..... but i would like to...

    Home Table Pocket Size

    I like 4.5 " corners and 5" sides... i would probably scratch a lot on a table with 5 1/4 inch corners.

Restoring '46 Brunswick Anniversary - Castings Concern

these probably can be polished to a shine by hand ....you just need to use finer and finer grades of sand paper until you get to a 1000 - 1500 or so then use a steel wool . I would use wet sand paper and water...then use an aluminum polish to finish the job..... takes forever ...but I took my...

    leveling an anniversary

just a few shims for the slate? .....then why do diamonds have so many leveling points? ....I followed the leveling guide in this forum and must have used at least 20 leveling points/ shims... did I miss something? ....i got the frame dead level ....but that was just the easy part....then went...

    question about pocket size

it almost looks like a pool table converted to a snooker table ....i agree that the cushion nose height would be helpful ...because maybe you are supposed to be playing with snooker sized balls here.

    Cushion Restore?

this will not work ...if the cushion is dead then it is dead .....glycerin will make it look shiny ....but it will still be dead ....and then you will have to uncover the rails ...put new rubber and recover the rails again ....

    Table Help!

oh you know Jackie wanted an Anniversary ....i didn't mean to say it was a crap table ....i just think the gandy would play better and look nicer ....i find the sportking looks a little cheap .....probably plays fine

    Table Help!

I would get rid of the brunswick (sportking is a low end model) and use the money to set up the Gandy properly as they are better tables if you want parts and info I would re-post this in the mechanic section.

Home table subrail work. any tips?

i doubt a hack will even attempt to do this work....it's too time consuming and has too steep of a learning curve. If I was a hack I would subcontract that work to you up-charge it and make a profit that way.....

it's how he folds it prior to applying the glue ....it's not just a haphazard folding; it allows protection of the playing surface.

    Cutting Cushions Accurately

rough cut with a knife and then use a mini belt sander to get them perfect. btw, the secret is not in the above, it is in the experience it takes to get them precise with the belt sander ....that's where the magic happens.

    flush trimming top of bumpers

not a mechanic but wouldn't the rail height be wrong? and if you trimmed the top wouldn't this affect the dynamics of the cushion. that said you could put a strip of masking tape across the gap and this would make the line go away. not my photo:
