Just a guess at this point, but him being sponsored by Cuetec probably answers your question. Hard to imagine their contract not extending to their jump cues when they do make their own variety. Not out of the realm of possibilities though.

I have to agree here. The only way new balls would play poorly is if the manufacturers put something on them that needed 'worn off'. I find it hard to believe that they would knowingly do this. The only other explanation would be that you think they play better once they start picking up...

It also exposes our occasional ability to not 'find' center ball on our shots.

Can't speak for the other poster, but many years ago (10+), I used a LePro for breaking. After reshaping and using it for some time, the it became so compressed and hardened that it was fantastic and held it's shape. Nowadays, I use a White Diamond, which I prefer over the phenolic tips available.
