I have pretty good luck with the 4 jaw independent large bore chuck that Neil machined for me, I can get as close as the time I want to spend. Those who complain about the wrench in the chuck, it was removed before put to work.

Would you recommend adding some CA if the scratch is really deep or would this show up after as a line?

With a razor cut I agree with the others, don't try to sand it out. I'm wondering what some of the others would think about cleaning it really good with alcohol and air blowing it out, then apply some CA to build the cut level with the other finish, and then fine sanding and buffing it back out?

I glued one on a while back with Elmers white glue and it has held up well, someone else told me to try it in another thread. Not to get off track in the thread, but since you mentioned a fume free alternative I thought I would as well.
