    California Bay Area Swap Meet

Great idea! I would come if something was arranged.

    9 ball drill --- new???

Not sure if it's new but sounds like a good concept. Just playing the ghost does critique, but doesn't offer much in constructive feedback by itself. That's why I recommend beginners start off with 3 or 4 ball patterns, and if you miss your target by a wide margin, set up the shot again rather...

Write, color or paint on a pool table.

I've seen chalk used fairly well. Outlined though, not colored in.

    Mosconi cup for dummies

Not a rip off at all. I bought Mosconi's cup and it really holds the nuts! Especially when someone breaks before I have a chance to move out of the way.

Is there anything to be learned from the Asian players?

Succinct. But more precisely, it's not just how, but when...as in when they get started. The best players of anything...not just cue sports but anything, music as another example...no matter where you reside...the best of the best almost always got started very young and have simply invested...

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

How many other sports do you participate in, rookie? And I don't mean in your backyard or on the playground with other kids your age. I mean where other grown men get together and compete seriously. Have you ever been on public basketball court? You think people get upset and mean in a pool...

    Pay Per View Costs

I understand the issues on both sides. Simply put, the business model needs adjustment and some ingenuity needs to take place for those that want to be in the business. It's obviously very costly to do, and pool is not a mainstream attraction to draw mass audiences. If streamers want to...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Last week our bar league kicked off and I played pretty good. We lost the match as a whole though and it's already looking like this season might be a rough one for a couple team mates. People were in a bit of a foul mood, I believe personal stress of some sort. It appears some players on the...

    Controllable Eye Dominance

Yes, it's what I do. I'm not sure exactly where my cue is lined up other than it's straight in line with how I perceive a straight line from my dominant (left) eye. I'm right handed. I also have experimented with one eye like sighting a rifle but it doesn't feel quite right. However, when I...

Hitting it pure...I'm gonna get hate for this but oh well.

To me, it's fluidity combined with precision. Not sure how else to explain it.

Do you use an aiming system or go by feel?

Yes, SamLambert. The intention is obvious, I'll give you that. Not hard to look up the many past threads on aiming and see where they have gone. Knock yourself out rookie.

Do you use an aiming system or go by feel?

Or in other words, no one here knows what aiming or feel are. Is alignment not aiming? My point is regardless of whether you're conscious of it or not, everyone aims and everyone uses their system. Thanks for your quick response. Do you get paid to monitor and post here? Because you are on it!

    The Clock System

I was taught this as well. They called it "clocking your stroke" and I remember them crediting Buddy with it too. I find it invaluable as well and it's become a standard part of my warm up to get a feel for a table.

Do you use an aiming system or go by feel?

If your eyes are open when you are shooting, then you're aiming and using whatever "system" works for you, whether you're conscious of it or not. The only way anyone can play by "feel" is to play with their eyes closed.

As you get better should you use a harder tip?

A hard tip will not give you more room for error. If anything it will give you less, particularly when applying extreme levels of spin as the hard tip will miscue a lot easier than a soft tip that can grab a little on the edges. Due to less "give" with the hard tip, it will transfer more...

    Bay Area Pool School

I attended last year's pool school at Crown Billiards and it was the best investment I could've made. I'd attend again for a refresher if I didn't already have plans. Also, Crown Billiards is one of the best in the area. I'd recommend checking them out as well.

    valley bar boxes

I am a big fan of Valley tables. They're what I grew up playing on. They can be a real good time for any level player. Perfect for a home, garage or rec room, in my opinion. A used Valley in good shape can be had for around $500, more or less. And since they sold so many and aren't that...

I have a feeling he means this

It's to be celebrated, not grieved... The life of a professional pool player is not something one is forced into. It's a choice, not a mandate. No professional pool player plays pool for me, you or the "fans". Professional or not, pool is played for self. Therefore I can feel no sympathy...
