New cue case by Jim Murnak is pure MAGIC!!!

I just got my new custom cue case made by Jim Murnak (see http://jimmurnakcuecases.com) and not only is it awesome looking and extremely well made, (see photos at Diary of a Poolshooter) it is also MAGICAL! At least the one he made for me is magical. I got the case yesterday, and I was really...

    The break

Where are the statistics that could answer this ("Who has the best 9-ball break"?) and many other questions, objectively. Aren't there stats on pros whose competitions are so public? How about stats such as Ball On Break Percentage, Average Balls on Break, Clear Shot After Break, Success Rate...

Z Shaft ?? Is it Good

I've been using the Predator Z shaft (11.75mm) for about 18 months and really like the lack of deflection, but I feel the shaft is a shade too skinny so my plan is to get a 314 shaft (12.75mm) and have it shaved down to about 12.25 mm, as a compromise between the two.

    What Killed Straight Pool?

Semantics. All the same words. Nothing wrong with Greed, it just sounds dirty, but it's just another form of Survival of the Fittest.

    What Killed Straight Pool?

All those different "reasons" boil down to one thing: MONEY. There is more money for everyone when playing 9/8 ball. More money for the manufacturers, the bars, the TV networks (and advertisers), the hustlers, the promoters, and the tournament players. Like most things in life, truth, if not...

    Best Arrangement For 9-ball rack?

So far, there has been no mention of how to rack when there is a handicap involved in the game. For example, let's say you are spotting your opponent the 7 or 8, or both. Where would you rack those balls? Also, I have played in matches where the players would rack for their own breaks!! How...

    Best Arrangement For 9-ball rack?

I've read a lot of books on pool, but it seems nowhere is there a suggested optimum way to rack for 9 ball so that it presents the toughest runout for your opponent. Does such a thing exist? Would you tell me if you knew it? ;o)

    Website renovation...

overall first impression: very hard to read with the gold/red/black and the fuzzy background on the letters. makes me want to go away, to another website. not "clean" looking. also: putting search engine boxes on your cues page is probably not in your best interest. it just confuses the...

    Best camcorder for pool videos?

Can it help? NO QUESTION in my mind. The basics of NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming) suggest that putting yourself in a powerful state of mind by "re-playing" or remembering previous victories is one of the best things you can do to build confidence. And we all know that confidence is...

All Pool Tables Should Have This

When he installed the new cloth on my table, the Olhausen mechanic cut me a piece of the cloth (Simonis 860) about 3" square as a "launch pad" as he called it, to be used for breaking, to eliminate the burn marks that are created when breaking from the side rails.

League: The Diet Coke of Pool?

<start rant> I'm done with playing on APA teams. Last night was a real good example. I drive through the last of rush hour traffic, to be on time for the start of team play at 7pm. And my match started at midnight! So bottom line on APA team pool: It is a sub-optimal use of my time. Last...

    Best camcorder for pool videos?

Does anyone have a suggestion for the best video camcorder for use in making pool videos? I'm thinking that low light capability, and vibration reduction features are a must, but beyond that, what make/model would be best? Thanks for your help...

Lets build a Pool Case for today's Player

Thanks for all the good ideas! One of the "to do" items in my Plan for Excellence in Pool is to get a new case. At a recent tournament, I found an extraordinary work of art (and, it was a cue case!) made by Jack Justis. Any feedback on his cases?
