Isn’t pool supposed to be dead?

Pool participation is a very different dynamic today than, say, both post pool movie boom years of 62 to 69 and 87 to 2000. Today league play dominates the pool room scene. Seven foot tables have all but taken over many, many rooms that still exist or even those that are opening as new...

    My New Diamond Professional!

I had a GC 3 installed in my new home on Friday - it looks and plays great as far as I am concerned- it is a matter of preference and also a matter of, IMO , of one’s favorite games - mine being 14.1- the GC is my choice - perhaps if it were one hole and 9/10 ball I would look at the Diamond...

    Classic Cue Market Dying Off

The market price for cues is whatever a cue would sell for within a reasonable time from listing when all possible prospects can view it - say 30 days max. Most custom and many production branded cues from 1960 to 2000 will sell for more than original purchase price if in reasonable condition...

    Chohan's book.

Some billiard books go way up in value over time- I think that $85 is not out of line today for a limited audience detailed work - several billiard books are many times original purchase price if you can even find one - so a higher price point may also make this one more rare in the future.

What’s the worst cue you’ve ever bought?

Wow - I never played with one of Verl’s cues but I always liked his ebony/ ivory designs- I wonder why it played so bad - could just be the wood on that cue.

    HOW DO WE LEARN ??

All sports are more difficult to master for people who instictively don’t do any of the steps correctly and correctly may not be the best choice of words. “Naturals” have some of the key elements to success - on either or both of the physical and mental sides of a sport - “wired” inside from...

    Seyberts exorbitant shipping charges?

I just ordered from Seyberts and the shipping was only $6 USPS - - not sure why you had high UPS shipping quotes from them - the other well known online billiard retailers were much higher than Seybert’s for shipping.

    HOW DO WE LEARN ??

For pool you need a few key ingredients: develop a perfectly straight stroke, align and stroke to the correct aim point on the OB, cue tip through the CB to a natural stop point of the cue tip. If you master all three of these on every shot then position concerns will be governed by where ( in...

    HOW DO WE LEARN ??

One of the greatest ball players in history - 3 time MVP! Yogi Berra had a great approach to mastery: he never guessed or thought about what the next pitch would be coming at him- he only used practice hitting to zero in on his timing of the swing - that was all he was concerned about. Extreme...

What’s the worst cue you’ve ever bought?

Philippine cues are all over the place in terms of quality and specs like shaft taper. Their mostly leather wraps are usually too slick to be of any value. They are generally cheaper in price for good reasons. Many look great in photos and even in person but almost never compare to any well...

    Mike Cochran Business Card

Some people like to keep a collection of cue maker business cards- I have kept them over the past 40 years or so. Value is hard to predict - I would imagine an original GB to be the most valuable- Mike’s probably not too much as it is not TS himself - you might get $20 or so from someone who...

    Meucci Diamond Ebony

I owned a Frey SP that was Macassar ebony and it had a 12 inch very light streak through the middle of the cue butt- ebony has many, many variations. I have seen ebony cues selling for thousands with very visible lighter grain streaks throughout. In fact, I owned and then sold one of those too...

    Seyberts exorbitant shipping charges?

Hard to buy small items from these sellers when you can get free shipping on the same items with Amazon prime or Amazon purchases that total $25 or so. Also many eBay sellers are now going with free shipping.

    Diamond table domination

Thank you - probably top 10 in the world in terms of original condition - never refinished and it looks like it is one year old home table when it is actually an early 1950 table. Those solid walnut rails are the nuts! Table came out of a deceased man’s home in Long Island NY about 5 years ago.

    Diamond table domination

Next time I am around one- I will take a look under a Diamond- just out of curiosity and to enlighten myself. As I stated earlier in this thread- I have no problems with people's preferences for one table brand or another- that is each person's entitled feelings about table brands. On the same...

    Diamond table domination

This is my son’s anniversary table - yesterday when I was there I took a look under the table - the lumber and framing are built to last literally centuries. Something about these tables when you play on them everything just feels so solid and right. It was installed by Blatt’s top mechanic -...

    Diamond table domination

Yes these specs have changed now - they had originally planned for the 5 inch and no 4 3/4 — they must have seen a lot of feedback as I felt too that 43/4 makes so much more sense than a 5 given today’s pocket spreads. I am glad hat they changed original voiced pocket specs and the 43/4 option...

    Diamond table domination

New GC 7 is available at 4 1/4 4 1/2 and 5 inch corners - no 4 3/4 - personally think that they should have gone with the 4 3/4 instead of a full 5 inch corner - I think , for a room , the 4 3/4 is a perfect compromise for the majority of tables in a room-
