    Carbon Q- lesser known manufacturers

Yes, there are some lesser known or maybe better said lesser named companies. There is a Chinese company which has a knock off Predator and another knock off carbon shaft. Unfortunately I do not know how they play. But they were advertising around $100.

    great Carbon Tubes!!

Fab944, Can you provide the wall thickness? Others I have dealt with are too thick creating a very rigid shaft. This creates squirting / deflection issues. Thanks Ed Petersen.

    Spalted Tamarind forearm

I agree with Mr. Webb. As long as it is cored and assuming everything else is assembled correctly there should be no problem. The core will take the load and the Spalted Tamarind will be the shell. I also core everything Regards Ed Petersen

    Roasted Ash Shaft

I got them for thier unique color and weight as they will be slightly lighter than a standard shaft due to the "roasting" process. I have never know anyone to use them for a regular shaft. As previously mentioned I am going to make a jump cue. As long as they were not roasted too much, then they...

    Sealing between cuts

CuesRus 1973, Thanks for the reply. It seems the favor is definitely in not sealing. Going to definitely try this and see how it works. Thanks to everyone else for your input as well. Much appreciated. Regards Ed Petersen.

    Coring tools

You need to make sure your work piece does not wobble inside your lathe spindle. If it does your hole will not be concentric with the opposite end. Especially if you plan on drilling from both sides. Regards Ed

    Delrin

Mr. Webb, So is one purpose of the glue channel to allow a groove so that the glue has a place to harden and not allow the butt cap to unthread? Is this due to the lack of adhesion which occurs with Delrin? Also, is the white ring between the wrap and butt sleeve also Delrin? If so are you...

    Sealing between cuts

Kim, thanks for your input. Based on what I have been told, looks like I will be saving time and money on wood sealer lol. I will see how it goes over the next several months as I continue to turn some shafts. And other wood for that matter. Regards Ed

Thanks everyone for your input. Gives my something to think about. I will stop sealing the wood and see how it works out.

    Finally started....

Simply said, much much better. Now it is looking very solid. Just to reiterate and clarify, turn between centers. If you have the ability (table saw, band saw, etc) make your turning product close to size. I.E., 1.5 inches for butts and forearms. I even cut my corners off to save my router time...

    Sealing between cuts

Hello all. This may have come up before but I could not find it. When cutting down shafts and to prevent warping, is it better to seal the wood between cuts while letting them rest, or leave the wood natural? I have been using a sealer from Cue Components (Joe ) but seem to get some movement...

    Looking for recommendations

Dave, for cutting my points I set up a Taig headstock and tailstock in my milling machine. I made my own indexer and it works great. For your application it would also work. For turning wood, I use a low RPM motor from ebay which is about $35. This is set up on a lathe similar to a cueman lathe...
