2025 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

Played some more ghost this week. Lost 20-30. Was getting very frustrated, like to the point my cue was at great risk of becoming fire wood. Probably gonna take a break from the ghost for a while lol. Fargo is now 679 with 203 robustness

Perfect Aim/The SHIFT is the real deal ! ! !

Jesus fucking Christ man. Everybody knows your posts are hilariously stupid and not even deserving of replies 99% of the time. But like, shut up. This guy is selling a proprietary method/product that some people are finding useful and worthwhile. You, somebody who does not play pool for all I...

Mezz cues most often used by top players

I can tell you that years ago when Mika was around Santa Monica a lot, he told me he preferred his 30” ex-pro shaft to the ignite but mezz wanted him to play with ignite. He switched back and forth a couple times but I think he’s full time ignite now

    2025 Seattle Open

this is a small mindset. A lot of these players probably feel it’s $200 well spent despite their chances of cashing in the tournament. They’re out there doing what they love against high level competition and maybe that’s the nuts for them

2025 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

I haven’t been playing the ghost lately because all my allotted pool time I’ve been in action which is great. I’ll get back to it soon enough. In the mean time I finally got around to uploading my high run from the other week which was 5. It’s not edited or anything and the angle is kinda funny...

2025 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

I like the narration! You play good I don’t think you made any glaring mental or strategic errors. The one that stood out was trying to shoot the 1 past the 4. I personally would have just shot it in the side oppposite the 2 ball hanging. I know it’s intuitive to shoot balls in the closest...

Wood vs carbon fiber shafts for top pros - I went through the Fargo top 100 to see who uses what

I’ve played with a mezz ignite and a 12.4 redo both for several months. Both shafts had slightly more deflection than my mezz ex pro. Personally, I don’t think any shaft performs better than a mezz ex pro, but I will say that the cf shafts definitely impart more energy to the cue ball. Whether...

    power draw?

Jeff Ignacio showed me this shot after we played many years back. He may have the most powerful stroke I’ve ever seen and still looks effortless

How To Get A Really Good Player

Yet the level of play now is objectively higher than ever, and there are more players capable of top tier play than ever.

How can I find out my Fargo?

I think the app is called salotto. Never used it but to my knowledge you can play Fargo rated matches with players using it

Great Players with a pronounced stroke slip

Jeffrey Ignacio has one of the smoothest, easiest strokes out there. Good one to watch

    59” or 60” cues

Possibly, but I’m pretty satisfied with the extra length being in the back. Just feels solid. Im a fan of super stiff-hitting shafts. I play with a mezz ex-pro which has a carbon fiber core. Imo has all the benefits of cf shafts with better feedback

    59” or 60” cues

I used to have a custom 31” butt with a 30” shaft. In the end I decided the shaft gets too whippy for me and now I just play with a stock 58” cue and add a 4” extension on the back permanently. I take the weight bolt out to restore the balance

Get off my lawn, Things I hate in pool today

This one came up yesterday and I thought of this thread. I absolutely hate when people just dump the ball tray onto the table. Neanderthal behavior

The 90's called, pool is back!

Libertad soccer club in Santa Monica is a one-pocket hub with top notch equipment and players of all skill levels up to pro speed one pocket. Sportsman’s billiards in Crenshaw is also a one pocket hub, not as nice equipment but still decent, lots of knowledgeable players but in a sketchier area...

The 90's called, pool is back!

Pretty consistent action here in LA. $100 rotation sets and $40 a game one-hole every week for me. There’s regular big action in Orange County but it’s above my pay grade.

2025 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

I started doing something new this week: instead of playing sets, I just play for roughly an hour and record it on my phone. Then I count the games, save any packages over 3 or particularly interesting racks, and delete the vid for space as I’m almost out. I recorded 4 sessions this week and...

    WWYD Mar 1

3 in the lower right. Cue ball one rail towards middle for 4 in same pocket with a slight cut to the left. Draw across one rail for 5 in the right side. Roll the 5 in, maybe one rail maybe none depending on angle and try to get flatish on 6. From there just get any angle on the 7 to get on the 8...

Get off my lawn, Things I hate in pool today

Just get rid of jump cues. Absolute blemish on the game. Kicking is probably the most beautiful and hardest part of the game to master. Jump cues eliminate the need for kicking proficiency to a degree. Just silly. I mostly play one pocket but when I play a rotation set for any significant amount...
