I can't recommend that flat disk thing. If you bevel your ferrule, it'll be a small issue to fix by hand. You should just cut off the old tip and sand by hand carefully. Try to buy tips close in size to your shaft. If they are way oversized, they are harder to deal with. Gel super glue...
