    Meucci Diamond Ebony

Without seeing it in person it's hard to say for sure, but the pictures also make it look like you might have some mineral deposits in the grain. This isn't uncommon in a lot of exotic woods and will appear like super small bubbles in the actual grain. I dealt with this very issue in an...

Tuxedo Cues: love 'em, hate 'em, or meh?

They're not typically something I'm drawn to in a "I want that cue" kind of way because I enjoy wood grains more than black against white. Curly maple is my jam. But I still appreciate a nicely executed tuxedo design like the Cog in the post above. I've seen some Josey tuxedos that were...

    Vegas

Haha! Yeah. We realized that after the fact. But, man... My doggies were barking bad by the time we got in that cab. Neither of us were wearing appropriate footwear for that long of a walk. Plus, it was the first full day of our weeklong trip. We took a rental car down to Tucson the...

    Vegas

I'll start with something I haven't noticed in any other post: The Strip is WAY longer than you think it is. The first time I went was around 2001 and we stayed at The Stratosphere. We got up the next morning and decided to walk the entire strip and back, stopping in every casino to get a...

    DERBY CITY CLASSIC DRESS CODE

😂 😂 😂 That's crazy! Thanks for the info. I still chat with her every once in a while and I'm sure she'd get a kick out of that tidbit.

    DERBY CITY CLASSIC DRESS CODE

Dude, I went down one year just for a few hours and the (now) ex wife tagged along. We were walking around checking out cues and stuff while Joe B. did some tip work for me and I asked her what she thought of the whole thing and she said, "I can smell the testosterone in this place." I swear...

    DERBY CITY CLASSIC DRESS CODE

I mean, I don't know what you were there to see. But I saw a lot more than just guys in t-shirts and shower clogs playing pool. But you probably have been and still go to more pro events then I ever have or will. Anyway, the magical part for me was the sheer energy of it. There was something...

    DERBY CITY CLASSIC DRESS CODE

I don't have any issues with dress codes for other major events. And I default to polos and slacks for those because, well... It's what you see golf pros wearing. And I don't want them to go back to suits or tuxedos or anything like that. Those are uncomfortable for the players and it's...

    DERBY CITY CLASSIC DRESS CODE

So, a lot of you guys want to compare pool to golf. And I get it. They're very similar. They're both single player games that fat guys can be really, really good at. You hit balls with sticks into holes. Once you develop a decent stroke/swing and a basic understanding of the game, most of...

    DERBY CITY CLASSIC DRESS CODE

Coming from a 52 year old who doesn't give rat's ass about what the players at The Derby wear, go yell at a cloud if you don't like its dress code. It's The Derby. For one glorious week every year, a venue feels kinda sorta like a giant pool room. Granted, for better or worse, it's not like...

    Pagulyan Carbon Fiber shaft?

I'm the same way. I'm getting older and crustier, though. But if you follow the Reddit billiards sub, you see all kinds of new and young players who have equipment and accessory obsessions. Hell, if I could slap my name on a product and make some cash on it, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

TAD-1 Tigerwood Big Pin is Rare (picture)

I was wondering the same thing. It almost looks like you can see the tenon through the joint collar. I'm not saying that's the case. Rather that's how it looks in the picture.

TAD-1 Tigerwood Big Pin is Rare (picture)

My understanding of the draw to Brazilian Rosewood is that it's considered to be one of the best tone woods. It's incredibly popular for guitar backs and other musical instruments. The figured pieces are also quite beautiful, so that's not nothing.

    Derby city so few Pros

Brother, as much as I miss it, you're absolutely right about it never going back to the way it was. There was a sweet spot where it was a nice mix of a tournament and debauchery. But it was getting a little too crazy there towards the end. There were too many people showing up who had zero...

    Derby city so few Pros

Thanks for the chuckle. But for anyone who doesn't know, getting to and from that venue is kind of a pain in the ass because it's not in town. It's a little ways outside of town on a road that follows the river. Add the snow we've got and are still getting, and it becomes downright treacherous.

    Who owns Samsara?

To the best of my knowledge Jim Stadum still owns Samsara. But based on everything I've read, he's super hard to get a hold of. He does still post things online every once in a while but it's very hit or miss. I might be misremembering this next part, so take it however you'd like, but I also...

    Peanutbutter... Mystery Cue...

My vote for leather would be either smooth black pigskin or lightly textured black leather. I tend to like the simpler wraps, though. The more exotic stuff tends to take away from the rest of the cue in my eyes. Now... If it was a jet black ebony or maple plain jane, that's where the more...

    Josey Cues

Keith is on Facebook and is pretty active on there. If you're on there I'm sure you can go through his photos and find a bunch of his work. I'm usually not a big fan of floating inlaid points but his work is so clean and classy it's hard not to like them.

    Show Your Rocky Tillis Cues!!!

Man, I'm a sucker for points without veneers. Sweet cue.
