    Tip replacement Questions

I am going to try my hand at replacing my first tip and have a few questions. First, I have access to an industrial LeBlond metal lathe. I've watched several of the videos on the web and have a good idea of what to expect. I assume that I'll have to make some sort of adaptor for the shaft. Any...

Simple Tip Protector / Chalk Preventer

Kinda goofy but I've found that a common pipe thread protector (of the correct size for a tight fit) works wonderfully for protecting the cue tip. It also keeps the chalk off the inside of the case as well. They can be found at most hardware type stores. RG

Finally - 1916 Custom Order Brunswick Kling

Well here she is. Had it up and running several hours ago but could not refrain from knocking a couple of balls around before taking some pictures. The facing on the pocket leather has not been attacked yet but otherwise she's complete. Pockets have 3/8" facings but still measure an honest 5"...

    FYI Colorado 14.1 Players

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=187574 Saw this post in the main forum and thought I'd link it here. Seems they are starting a straight pool league at Charlies Billiards in Northglenn CO (just North of Denver). RG

    Kling Coming Along

Well, it's been almost 4 months now and I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. Here is a picture of one of the center legs that were in such bad shape. Each speration in the laminated structure was re-glued with Elmer's wood glue and clamped. Believe it ot not, this worked quite...

    Simonis or Miliken or Other

I should have my table up and running in a few weeks and would like recommendations on what cloth is best suited to straight pool. I liked the 760 on my last table but was wondering if their 860HR might be better suited for the [finished] basement. The climate is somewhat controlled but can...

Looking For A Copy of Play Your Best Straight Pool

I tried a WTB in the Wanted/For Sale section without luck so I thought I would give it a try over here. I am looking for a good used copy of Capelle's book titled "Play Your Best Straight Pool". I tried all the online stores but can't see spending a hundred bucks on a used book. I realize...

WTB - Play Your Best Straight Pool

I am looking for a good used copy of Capelle's "Play Your Best Straight Pool". I know it's out of print but the prices the online book stores want is ridiculous. If anyone has a copy they would like to sell, please contact me here or through a PM. Thanks, RG

    Instructional Path For New Players

What is the best way to teach a new player? My kids (12 & 15) are to the point they are both interested and my table should be up and running in a month or so (hopefully sooner). I do not want them to pick up on any bad habits I might have or I'd just start out teaching them what I know and go...

Can Aramith Balls Get Water Damaged?

I have a chance to buy a nice set of Centennial balls that the seller says are in excellent condition but the box is water damaged. Assuming the balls were in the box when damaged, could the balls themselves be affected by sitting in water for an extended period of time? Thanks, RG

    Just Purchased A Kling!

Hello all, I'm kinda new to the forum here but thought I would reflect on some very good fortune that befell me earlier this afternoon. It seems I am the proud owner of a vintage six leg Brunswick Kling! Overall it's in really good shape for a 100 year old table but there are some issues with...

Help - Kling Lamination Lifting on Legs

I just purchased a Brunswick Kling and need some advice on how to best repair the lamination on the lower portion of the legs. On three of the six legs, the lamination has started to peal back from the bottom of the leg. I'm not looking to restore the legs (not yet at least) but wrather...

    Prather Question

I have a chance to by an older Prather cue and wanted some input before checking it out. From the sellers description, it sounds like a pre-94 wrapless wood joint Prather similar to the current 201a model. It sounds like it has a curly (BE?) maple butt and rosewood forend (no points). There...

Need Help Identifying A Schon Cue

New member here. Can someone tell me who might be able to tell me the model of my Schon cue? It was bought from Shooters in Burnsville (MN) maybe around 1995. I've looked on Schon's archive list but saw nothing similar. Here are some (poor) pics: Thanks, Randy
