    Cues with bigger handle diameter

My old C series had a larger handle, almost as fat as my 80's Viking. I picked up a Julio Strambolini by Adam that has a nice fatter handle. Older cues tend to be thicker, such as Palmers.

    HARVEY MARTIN

When I bought my unknown I was hoping it was either a Martin or a Tad, as I love the Martin style. Mine ended up being a Schrager, so it is still in the Martin lineage. Fantastic cue once I got a good tip on it. I don’t recall, but I think over a certain dollar amount items bought from...

    Old Schons

Jim had everything from Dufferins to SW, Schon, Runde, Black, Coker, McWorter, Jacoby, Joss, and a plethora of other cues that I can’t recall. The only thing I have left from his shop is a pair of water Buffalo horn joint protectors that Bob Runde made and a lot of memories.

Per Bob, he didn’t core cues until he started making the under his name in 94.

    Old Schons

I loved going to BnB years ago. I bicycle by the old shop once a week. Around a month ago I was on a bike ride and my GF and I stopped at a cemetery next to the Spring Water Corridor Trail. We were checking out old tombstones and low and behold, I noticed Jim’s face inscribed on his. He was...

    Your best playing production cue

I love older Falcon shafts. My C-series McDermott is pretty hard to beat. I have a Julio Stambolini made by Adam that is spectacular. My Sal Rich cue plays like my old Tim Scruggs. My late 60’s Palmer has been dubbed plastic fantastic due to the buttsleeve and the way it plays. My...

Is this an old Katz cue? The double brass joint is kinda throwing me off though.

Sold 2020 Bob Runde Cue (Price Reduction)

If my Runde looked that I wouldn’t have sold it a few years ago. I do notice a striking resemblance to my main cue. Good luck with the sale.

    Shipping a cue

I ship my cues in 2” PVC pipe that you can buy at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Bubble wrap the cues and into the pipe. I use 2” test caps and duct tape them in place. As stated before, insuring for $501 and above automatically adds a signature. Otherwise just pay for an added signature. My...

    80’s Plain Jane’s

I noticed that. I have had McD’s with both styles of nose. The only thing I can think of is different guy on the lathe that day. The D-4’s pin is finished the same way as my C-10. The D-8’s pin looks like what I’m use to seeing on a McD. The D series spans from 84-90, so things can change.

    80’s Plain Jane’s

I took a long ride based on some blurry pictures and came home with these yesterday. I think I’m going to keep the Pau Ferro Mali and the D8. My son and I have shot a little bit and he seems to enjoy it. I’m hoping he might want to upgrade from the old Adam sneaky Pete he is using now. In my...

    Mali buttcap question

I’ve had my fair share of 80’s cue and I can’t say I’ve seen what looks like a delrin buttcap on a Mali before. It appears to be a pretty Pau Ferro plain Jane, nothing special, but the buttcap is a new one for me.

How important is the cue for beginner-novice level?

The only thing a learner truly needs, IMHO, is consistency. I think I tried 5-10 different cues when I bought my first one. A PJ Viking felt the best and worked great for 14 years before I stumbled into the world of custom cues.

    Non standard shipping length

Just an FYI, apparently as of two weeks ago, there is now a $15 additional charge for non standard shipping lengths. I just shipped a cue to Chicago from Oregon and the shipping boost was $18, but a $15 non standard shipping length was added.

That cue is an Adam made Balabushka. The forearm was likely refinished, if not the entire cue, and the signature was lost. Here is one with all the stickers...

    Vintage cue Wood ID

After some image searches, I do think it is a Rich. I think I saw at least a dozen Rich cues with the same alternating black and red wrap.
