SVB cheating? Shaw/SVB Derby 9 Ball

Thanks, Dr Dave. Your website is a great help in many ways. I use it a lot but there is so much information there that I need to concentrate on only smaller parts - else I would be lost. As my knowledge grows, I search more and more parts of the great info you supply.

SVB cheating? Shaw/SVB Derby 9 Ball

Well, I never accused Shane of cheating. However, when Shaw saw the relatively large gap and took a pic of it, I think he had a right to make Shane rack again. Everything else was pure BS on the side of Shaw. How do you see the issue, Dr. Dave? Would you agree that asking for a rerack is ok...

SVB cheating? Shaw/SVB Derby 9 Ball

Why should it be cheating if the tournament rules allow it? I think most people have a problem with how the break determines a large part of who the winner is - in pro tournaments and "winner breaks". If the break decides over the outcome too much the game does not become more attractive. Just...

Simple question for you experts on 14.1

Thank you. So we have always played it correctly. I just wasn't quite sure since someone recently did not want to spot those balls.

Simple question for you experts on 14.1

Another question about Straight Pool: Say you call the 1-ball in the corner. What happens in these two cases? 1) You miss the 1 completely but pocket another ball? 2) You hit the 1-ball, don't pocket it but pocket another ball instead? Now, I know it's the opponent's turn. But how do you...

SVB cheating? Shaw/SVB Derby 9 Ball

I'll have to state that I am sort of biased in all this. I don't like Shaw because of all the previous jerk moves he made for years. And I do like Shane because I have not seen him act like a fool yet. Apart from this: I believe the rack was off and that the pic posted was not doctored by Shaw...

How to Prevent Racking Balls on Wrong End?

There are places where the tables are so worn out it is actually better to rack at the wrong end. Else you wouldn't get a halfways decent rack because of all the divots on the right side. I prefer not to play on such tables but sometimes I have to.

    Best Glove

I have a problem because I have very long fingers so most gloves are either tight or don't fit at all. Most companies don't make large enough ones. Currently I use two different ones which would be perfect if I'd get them in XL. - the Longoni - the McDermott glove. Actually I prefer the...

    efren

Oh yeah, and some magic shone on his Farewell tour! Like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgi6w1O2cbI&feature=youtu.be&t=2115 I prefer to see stuff like that rather than some robot winning 20 to 1. He may have lost a gear but I don't give a .... .It's certainly not 3 or 4, though.

    efren

Sadly enough, this seems to be true. He announced it during his German Farewell Tour. He mentioned he might still play in Japan and Asia but no more in Europe or the US. Well, I guess he deserves rest at his age but I regret probably not seeing very much of him in the future any more. He was my...

Help with changing a tip on a cue

Look for a Kiridashi or Kiridashi Kogatana knife - like on Ebay and so on. Don't take one with a bulky handle.

    DCC—who isn’t playing?

Efren won't be there any more - probably never again. At least that's what he said on his Farewell Tour in Germany. He may possibly travel short distances in Asia but not to Europe or the US again.

    Retractable Bridge: Useful or Gimmick?

I got a few, including mooseheads. Since I got this one however, I never use the others anymore: https://www.doubledavecues.com/plexi-bridge-with-ballmarker-p-3989.html?language=en At least as versatile as a moosehead - and you see everything behind it.

    Why Efren is the greatest.

Hi, after watching this entire match, I watched a few more of the tour stops. Here is a great shot by Earl, in part 1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHjFV36W97A#t=20m42s (Sorry, wrong link - can't find the correct one right now.) I am still searching vor parts 6/8 and 8/8 - did anyone find...

Shaft length for players over 5,11?

@Rubik's: How tall are you and on what table are you playing? I couldn't manage on a 9ft table with a 55" cue. My 58 is short on that. On a small table, a 58 is good enough for me but with a 55 I would have to adjust my stroke and stance or something. Wouldn't feel right, I suppose.

Shaft length for players over 5,11?

I'm 6'2" and used a regular Meucci for years. In late October I got a 30" new Meucci butt from Budget Billards for an extra $ 50 and two new 30" shafts. It's a lot more comfortable to play now.

Seems the USPS has lost my cue

"Registered" where the only items I lost permanently. R sounds expensive and thus gets stolen more often - at least in international mail. My personal experience: 100's of letters, parcels and so on unregistered between Europe and the US - 0 losses. Around 5 registered and/or separately insured...

    Why Me?

I'll second that. It is always nice to see Efren again. There may be players nowadays (much younger) that beat him now. But most of them don't even come close to his sportsmanlike behavior. It is a shame that great players like Shaw, Filler, Hatch and many others nowadays haven't learned from...

    "Call Shot 9ball"

Interesting. I suppose you play this new game of 9-ball on a higher level. Where it probably won't change the game to a degree that it's not recognizable as 9-ball any more. It would be interesting to also see low-level players play those rules. IMHO, that is where the game really changes the...
