I've steered a bunch of local league players into McDermott cues. They are made in Wisconsin, solid players, you can find a butt and even a CF shaft for a grand, and their support is phenomenal. If you have to send a cue in the turnaround time is days, not weeks or months.
Interesting that everyone referred to him as Yapp, like it was a first name, after the big win. The interviewer called him Yapp during the post-match interview.

On a positive note, Phil Yates made a big deal yesterday about how he is now going to pronounce Gorst properly. He did revert to the old pronunciation a half dozen times after that, but corrected himself each time. People grow. :)
I would venture to say that, with very few exceptions, anyone sitting in the Mosconi crowd cares deeply and it looking for an excuse to be rowdy. You don't get many casual fans there.
