I played with Jacoby Black's (V3 and V4) and loved it but had to buy multiple shafts in different pin types so I could play the same style shaft on different cues.
A good friend let me play a couple of racks with their Triple 60 and I got to play around with the joint system which was radically...
Once you break the 5k barrier you think you will never spend more.
Then suddenly your dropping 10k and then 15k and we'll your start seeing things.... differently.
The Josh cue is 5/16-14 ivory sleeved steel compression jointed cue he originally built for himself before he soured on the color palette.
I love it, only gripe is it's a bit slender for me. I love them tall thicc girls!
I have three Tascrella's in my collection and did play with one for just under a year but have since pushed it down the play list as other more exceptional 5/16-14 steel jointed cues have come in.
That 29.5" Tasc sits behind two Richard Blacks, a Josh Treadway and Joss West on the preferred...
Trust me, there is no such thing as "lesser known" auction site everyone already knows about Hi-Bid, AuctionNinja, Proxbid, LiveAuction, and CTbids.
But if you mean outside of those, please do share!
My favorite hobby is going on there and dropping a mid to high bid on a cue. Just to make sure there is a painful floor for any potential buyer.
Not so high that I'm not willing to pay, but enough to make sure any flipper is going to have a hard time getting their money back.
If there was any validity to this line of logic all baseball players would use the exact same style and weight of bat since it's the Indian not the arrow.
Many of the same factors that go into the selection of a bat also go into the selection of a cue.
I recommend reading up on bats, how their...
Just get a nice Rounceville blank off Bell Forest and then get a up and coming maker to finish to your specs.
I just bought a ebony into ebony to turn into my new break cue and I'm having Scott Gilmore finish it.
Super excited for this one!
Yeah lots of flippers watching some high dollar cues that they forked out for drop in value every day.
And yes, as was mentioned a few post above, there are a small handful of modern makers whose cues are in high demand and for each one of them there are many many more who's cues are treading...
So I use the same Triple 60 CF shaft across all my butts. So it doesn't matter if I swinging a Szamboti, Drexler or a Black the hit is very consistent.
I've always run off the 80/20 rule. The shaft is 80% of the hit and the butt is 20%. The butt is about transmission of the hit to the hand and...
Nope they have absolutely no clue what it is, most think it's either a vintage Adam or one of those Chinese Balabushka things.
Honestly I'm ok with this.
I hear you and understand but that sentiment just makes me so sad...
These cues were built to play, it's why they exist except the new high-end peacock cues (looking at you black boar) and when we deny.them their purpose they loose what makes them special.
I get so much enjoyment playing with...
There is a huge market for custom cues, just not at the inflated and unrealistic prices that most sellers think they're going to get.
20% to 30% profit is fucking nuts, and yet I constantly see people trying to get that above a reasonable/historical price daily.
Case in point, I'm sorry but...
You can find a used valley on Marketplace occasionally for under 500. Then you add ridgebacks and 860 HR and your cooking and still under 1k.
Hard to beat that.
sounds like this ball, which is my favorite cue ball!
