    What happened to ringtail wraps?

I've been using a superior grade EE wrap from Superior, and after two months of twice-weekly play, it still looks new. The pebble grain is still sharp, and the grip is there without being too tacky when I want to shift my hand around. I've been doing EE on all my high-end shooting cues, but I...

What you have essentially done is portfolio diversification with what are known as alternative investments. The reason cues have been so good to you is that, for the most part, you were buying when prices were lower and more stable than they are today. You had the benefit of being close to...

Completely agree but this is where cues can shift from a percentage of collectors who collect for the reasons you described to an even larger potential market of collectors who view then through the same lense I do. I keep leaning on the ICCS guys that they have a greater responsibility to...

So I'm Gen-X, I started playing in college, never once walked into one of these storied pool rooms. Yet I fucking love cues, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the premise you laid out. Quite simply cues are, in and of themselves, a form of art. That art spans from the lowest KaoKao...

    Question about Derby cues

Get one Whyte Triple 60 shaft and get adapters for every size pin you play with, it's what I did and have never looked back.

Kraft is pretty reputable, their dealers premium is usually between 10% to 18% of gavel price. And their shipping is super reasonable compared to some of the fly-by night auction houses out there.

    Peanutbutter... Mystery Cue...

I hate the feel of new (modern) linen, it lacks the tack and compactness of the old school Cortland or even vintage braided dacron. I know of one maker that has a stash of the really good old stuff but he will only use it on select cues and it's only green spec. So sadly I naturally head...

Thank you for doing that, I really appreciate it! Now we're back to square one! Another collector friend suggested Tice but I don't know his cues either.

If there was even the smallest chance of it being an import, Garczar would have called it!

The cue is now with Scott Gilmore getting a full refinish and new wrap. It was an old enough cue that the varnish was yellowed, so it's going to be interesting to see how it looks with a fresh finish. Sadly, no signature under the wrap.

Unless the maker purchased a forearm/butt set? I do agree, the veneer rings match the points perfectly, and the wood in the sleeve windows matches the grain of the forearm wood.

Wow it very it does have Guffey vibe. He's a new maker to me so appreciate the call out! The cue came out of a collection in Texas so Guffey is a real possibility

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion but expressing it in a slightly more tactfully might be a better option then shitting on someone else's cue. Even better if you don't know who a possible maker could be maybe just move on to the next thread.

Not really sure you get an opinion. Do you even own a real cue?
