I'll add the other 1% to Patrick and say early Joss because of the pin.. I'd pretty surprised to see two identical pins like Wildwing's and this both with 8 threads, along other things, and both cues not be early Joss.

You don't...But you can lessen your chances by doing enough reasearch recieving as much advice as you can from others who have been through what you're about to. That said it's always best to send your cue back to the original maker if possible. If thats not an option, your coming here for...

Asked Dennis Searing to build a shaft for my Gus so I could leave the two originals alone. What I recieved was nothing short of spectacular. He used the same original phenolic and materials Gus used so it would match exact. Since he didnt have the butt, he made the pilot just about a thousandth...

Not true... Just the opposite. Any competent maker can do flat bottom, hand knifed (or other) sharp tipped points that most if not all trained eyes COULDN'T be able to tell the difference...

You might want to consider creating your cylinders with a taper so when showing the cue from the straight on side view the cue looks more realistic.... As a little visual slight of hand you might be able to get your virtual camera angle setup to make it apear as though the cue is tapered like I...
