Is there more deflection on hard inside english than hard outside?

Advanced Pool by George Fels I don't think that it is difficult. I highly recommend reading "Advanced Pool" by George Fels. His take on inside english made me realize that it's just another shot. One that will improve your overall mental attitude and increase your level of play. Paul

    pool room in boston?

Jillian's was right in the alley behind the green monster. I went there about 10 years ago and the tables were OK. It's not a players room, mostly college kids. Paul

    Heads Up

Well said Eric. I believe that many of us wished that we were closer to Tampa. I miss him too and continue to pray for his family. It seems like so long ago (May 2001) when I met Doug at his weekly 9 ball tourney. Paul Mon

Diamonizing a Gold Crown 3, you get what you pay for!

Very impressed by your work, with the table and the camera. You are truly unique in the table mechanic arena. How did you support the slate while drilling the holes? regards........Paul

    Delibrate players or slow players

People are hard on slow players for lots of reasons - It's annoying to watch someone take 1 minute to play an obvious shot. - It's annoying to see a player get down over a shot take all their warm up strokes and then get up look at the angle and then do it all over again. - It's annoying to...

Value of 99 Critical Shots, 1st edition

Thanks to all I going to pass on the book. I should have mentioned that I already have a paperback copy of the book. IMO, this book is required reading for anyone wanting to improve. Paul

Value of 99 Critical Shots, 1st edition

I've found a copy of Ray Martin's 99 Critical Shots in good condition. There is no dust jacket but the inside front cover is autographed by Ray to someone named Glen. I won't divulge the asking price but it is less than dinner at Ruth's Chris. Does anyone know the fair value for a signed 1st...

Super Billiards Expo - Valley Forge, anyone hear anything?

There are plenty of places to stay nearby, most of them cheaper than the Radisson. But staying there is really the only way to go, IMO. It's worth the extra money to be able to relax between matches, walk around without carrying cues, etc. I doubt I'll go next spring. But I'll book my room...

Super Billiards Expo - Valley Forge, anyone hear anything?

I can tell you that the rooms at the Radisson are long gone. Some people book 3 or more rooms and then sell them at a profit in the months before SBE.

Out With My Old Table & In With My New Table

Nice upgrade Very nice looking table and room you got there. It does look like a dressed up version of their Anniversary table. I always liked tables with a flat rail. regards........Paul

    TommyT the golfer

Tom is too bashful to bring this up but it's worth mentioning to his many friends here. Tom won the senior club championship at his CC over the weekend. He works as hard on his golf game as his cue collection. He didn't even call me to brag I read it in the paper. Obviously, he's a much...

    Best Triangle Rack???

Actually they do have one gimmick, but it's a good one. The notch on the back leg of the triangle that aligns with the long string (center line). I've added a notch on all three legs of my home rack. It's a great simple idea. Paul

    What tip do you use?

Medium to Medium hard Until about 10 years ago I would install a LePro or Triangle myself. Then Talisman gave away some samples and I tried them and used them exclusively for about 10 years, still doing my own install. Tommy T gave me a milk dud (LePro) last winter that I just can't get...

What have people been flat out wrong about?

I agree with your statement 100% and thought the same thing reading Scott's input to the thread. But I must say that you're getting screwed if you pay more than a couple of bucks for a LePro. Paul

What is the Most Ill-Conceived Pool Product You Have Ever Come Across?

My personal favorite is the brass cube with a hinged top that holds a piece of chalk. Utterly useless.

    Talisman Jump Tip?

Robin, I use the Frog shaft (phenolic tip) on my break cue. I won one of your cues in a raffle at Valley Forge about 5 years ago. One day I'm screwing it together and realize that the thread is the same as my break cue. So I screwed it on and it breaks real good. It does however, cause...

    Talisman Jump Tip?

I use two different shafts on my break cue. One has a phenolic tip the other a Talisman break tip. I've had the Talisman on my break cue for quite a while (5 years maybe). It's very durable, holds chalk well and is extremely hard. For breaking I actually like it better than phenolic. BTW, I...
