What age did you start playing?

I was going to the YMCA when I was 6 years old. They had a bumper pool table there that was beat up. But even back then keeping the table was a huge deal. On the other side of the Y (the mens side) were three 5 x 10 tables and if you were quiet they might let you watch for a while. I was...

    Bk2 f!@$!?@*%

Back when Shane S worked for them he replaced my 314 shaft at NC when the ferrule cracked. It helped that he was very active on the message boards at the time. Good luck and let us know what they do.........Paul

    Bk2 f!@$!?@*%

Sorry for your loss Had it happen to me once. Breaking with my playing cue, 314 shaft on a Meucci butt. Broke a rack of 9 ball and the butt exploded near the joint. Made such a loud noise that people were looking around for the gun!! I don't break with my playing cue any longer. Paul

I don't mean to brag, but look at this!

Very nice setup But like some of the others have wondered. 1. Why Two tables? 2. Are they both covered with the same cloth? 3. Are the pocket sizes different? Paul P.S. Get the rug down ASAP. You'll cringe when the cue ball leaves the table.

    Would you buy it?

I use a wrapless that is very sommth. I get a callous on the inside of my thumb. Occasionally, three times this winter, it splits open. Just put on a bandaid and keep going.

How to carry a cue case on a motorcycle?

Extremely reliable machines. Not sure why they stopped making them, the 1980 was the first without points. My first bike was a 1 lunger BSA 441, what a beast to kick. My second was a 650 Royal Endfield, not that reliable. When I finally could afford one the 650XS was a no-brainer. BTW...

How to carry a cue case on a motorcycle?

Don't think there are any good ideas Sorry to say that Joe. I think that carrying the case on your shoulder is a good way to get pulled over. I'd try to bungee the case to the seat behind you. BTW, I ride a 1980 xs650 Yamaha (twin) that I bought new. I've got a back rest that I put on...

    Billiard collectibles

That is way cool. I'm thinking you propped it next to the rail to take the picture. So it's very small. If you're willing take another shot of it with a dime next to it. I'd bid on it if it was on ebay. edit: BTW, I like the story Paul

    Billiard collectibles

Nice stuff Very cool stuff. I'm too lazy to post the individual pics. Here's a link to my pool room. Since then I've added a few more items. http://sports.webshots.com/album/199940479ONGPtC

    9 Ball Break Question

I agree that it is easier to control the cue ball. One thing I noticed is that the last ball tends to go almost straight back and hit the 9 ball which is still in it's original spot. You've got a better chance of moving the 9, maybe even pocketing it in the side.

Poll: Jump cues and cue extenders

Sean, I didn't know that about Reyes and I've got that DVD. I suppose that if onepocket.org says it's OK then I've got to get over it. I also didn't think that cues could have moving parts but saw Mike Massey extend his cue by twisting the butt and sliding it out about 10". It was...

Poll: Jump cues and cue extenders

Well said Sean. I'll agree that we disagree. When I execute a "move" in 1 pocket that requires my opponent to either stretch out or use the bridge I've accomplished my goal. When they take out the cue extension to gain the few inches needed to neutralize my move, it cheapens the entire...

Poll: Jump cues and cue extenders

You got it right Sean. My intention is to group these two devices as being outside the "spirit of the game" when playing 14.1 and 1 pocket. I'm not saying they are "bad" either. I just think that there is a place for them, along with the break cue, in other cue sports. BTW, I'm not even...

Poll: Jump cues and cue extenders

I'd rather be eaten by a goat and shit off of a cliff before using a cue extender. Using jump cues and extensions compromises the spirit of the game (1 pocket and 14.1). I'm all for innovation and technology advancements ie. Aramith balls vs. ivory and LD shafts vs. conventional shafts. Where...

Poll: Jump cues and cue extenders

I'll agree that they accomplish the same task. IMO, the means does not justify the end. They require two specific and unique skills. Using the bridge requires skill and practice. Using the extender requires a credit card to buy one.

Poll: Jump cues and cue extenders

IMO, they should be outlawed in all games except 9 ball and 10 ball.

    1-Pocket Break Question

Give me your opinion I play a guy who uses a cue extender and a jump cue. When we play 9 ball I don't mind him using either. When we play 1 pocket he refrains from using the jump cue but will grab for the extender. IMO, neither should be allowed in any game other than 9 ball or 10 ball...

    Showcase billiards is gone.

That's too bad. I bought a Showcase custom a few years back from Clay at VF. Got it home and noticed a slight flaw in the finish. He asked me to send it and had it repaired and shipped back at NC. I wish him the best. Is he going to retire?

    Skidding balls?

REP to you. IMO, dirty ball are not required. Our pool hall cleans and polishes daily. These balls skid more often. I believe that the polish causes tha chalk to adhere to the cueball. Slow, short, straight shots with follow seem to have the greatest chance to cling and skid. I've actually...
