Hal Houle, not an aiming thread

Hi, Just an unsolicited view.... it depends entirely on your own personality IMO. I have found (ended phase 3 in life last year-over 60 club) that it is really nice to not have to plan around 'work' for any of those trips, or things you used to have to plan way ahead to be able to set the time...

    FS Sly Custom Cue 1/1

NSA.... did you design this, or Leon, or a collaboration? Whichever it is... really tastefully done, and a beautiful example of artistic design! Really, just beautiful! Td

    14.1 high runs... be honest

LOL..... After watching JS work on his run for many hours..... I found myself believing that the break ball always goes in, and there is always an easy shot to follow.... and that a ‘bad’ run is 3-5 racks. If only................ Td

    Tips for this shot.

Right you are.... I was trying to endorse your original post. There is no slop on a snooker table though, so that issue is moot. Either way, your method is one that I have used, and have seen taught by the best teachers out there in various forms.... I like it! Td

Same Old Same Old at Turning Stone? Not to SJM

Tap tap tap... I agree, that final was a great example of the ultimate (in anything) when talent, hard work, knowledge and wisdom all come together at the right time. Shane’s lockdown game was stellar..... from the push outs, to the safety play, and the execution. Really fun match to see...

    Tips for this shot.

To the OP..... you have a LOT of great advice here from everyone! If aiming isn’t the issue (which it has to be ultimately, because you have to aim correctly to compensate for ALL factors), or stroke inconsistency, then perhaps you aren’t ‘seeing’ all of the variables in your minds eye either...

    Sly / harris

I'm not selling my Sly.... it's a beautiful fancy ebony sneaky wrapless. At some point, when I don't play at all anymore, someone will be getting a sweet cue! td

    Gamble or Not

If I can be considered "knowledgable" the answer is yes. I found a few decades back, that I didn't enjoy taking someone elses money. Just didn't feel right to me..... I liked even less losing any of my $ to someone else!! So, it was a lose/lose for me. I quit doing it. It probably wouldn't...

why didn't/doesn't efren care more about the break shot?

He's got a very light touch on the cue, and maybe the transition to power didn't translate well? He breaks well, but definitely not power. To me he is a stroke player, and that is his go to strength. To put it in a different context.... in tennis, there are baseliners, and there are serve and...

    taper and size

I agree with ‘youse’ guys too! ;) I think I played so well with my super thin shafts (probably closer to 10 than 11) was that they were effectively super low deflection, and coming from playing mostly on a snooker table the pockets seemed like buckets anyway. So, LD worked for me! Funny...

When I was competing, I didn't like to get beat period! But.... I always enjoyed winning with the worst equipment, not that it was bad equipment. I held on to playing with my wood tennis racquets looong after they went out of favor, and enjoyed winning against man made composites...

    A carom present from Accu-Stats

That was an amazing shot! Cue ball hits object ball, frozen in corner, object ball mass forced into rail and rebounding into CB, which had running English to go backward into the 3 (4? I don't remember) rail billiard...…………….. I had to think about that one too! Consummate professionals...
