Get the 3/8 holders online and buy some extra tool post and modify them to hold the larger holders.

I know you asked about sharpening but here is another option. You can use TCGT 21.51 and 21.52 inserts for aluminum. One has less of a radius on the cutting edge than the other. You will have to buy a set of holders for these bits and adapt them to your setup. They stay sharp for a long time...

Sure they are not over chalkers? Some people will stand and constantly grind their tip with the chalk cube while they stare at the table forever.

A hollowed out cube of chalk and poor chalking procedure can cause these type Of marks on the furrule. Chalk is abrasive.

For labels that are stuck on with some sort of adhesive backing I have had good results with mineral spirits, it is much gentler on most types of finish than some of the other mentioned products.
