SJM Sizes up 2022 in Pro Pool

If you look back Pool and the dreams of being big in Pool have always been the thoughts of the young upstarts. To change Pool's landscape is a change in business model for today's Pool places. Pool left the uptown Pool room and went to the side street Recreation center then video games showed...

SJM Sizes up 2022 in Pro Pool

Jam and Stu, Both of you are right. Sorry to both of you for my long answer. Taxes have a great deal to do with it when you consider that a foreign player playing in the U.S. is taxed at 30% right off the top, but it's as you say, taxes are supposed to be part of the deal in any line of...

    Pool Movies--let's get some ratings

In my occasional thinking to myself I think ok we've been through the smoky pool room, the recreation center and the strip mall sports bar. I think its time for a movie that is about making it on the pool circuit and leave the old way behind. In fact maybe that is part of the plot. Pool needs...

    Pool Movies--let's get some ratings

How so? I always thought the Color of Money led up to a very big boost for Pool.

    Pool Movies--let's get some ratings

Here is quite a list of Pool Movies and (believe it or not Efren is in one of them) If the Hustler, The Color of Money and Pool Hall Junkies are the top movies? Where do these fall? What would be the next few movies that are the best? https://www.imdb.com/list/ls052748130/

Best Tip on the Market - soft to medium

I don't even know what is on my shafts. Every time I do have tips put on I find the cheapest softest tip they have to put on. All tips play and get harder but what I've found with the soft tips is if they are softer they take chalk better. Whatever this is I'm playing with hasn't had one miscue...

The only thing wrong with "Pool," is it needs watching.

I you had asked me before this thread I would have thought otherwise. It is without a doubt that breaking into the Amateur Pool Leaguers world with pool related content doesn't look promising due to the habits of the pool players. Maybe there is a niche that would work to get word out to the...

The only thing wrong with "Pool," is it needs watching.

Understood but let me explain a bit more. There are an estimated 34 million people who play pool at least a few times a year, with 11 or more million that play more than 4 times per month. Such is the disconnect between amateur and professional that they really don't know much about pro pool...

Accustats Formula for calculating player stats---(Someone please explain this)

Here a screenshot from Dr. Dave's explanation of the Accustats formula. I can't complete the formula the way it's explained. Can someone clear this up for me please remembering I am not a mathematician.

I would love to see someone do something with 8-ball and I think you're right about the back stories or storylines being important.

The only thing wrong with "Pool," is it needs watching.

I think I'd replace your one pocket with straight pool because its easier to watch for newbies into the game. It occurs to me that in this thread, no one except for me has even mentioned the sharing of the videos we have to the players that exist in their social circle. That tells me that this...

You're right but every match can't be the Mosconi Cup. It's a great thought.

That's a great idea. I will have to remember that one. Do you have any idea how to make something like that work?

The only thing wrong with "Pool," is it needs watching.

It's a pipe dream worth dreaming if dreams turn into realities of millions of people loving professional pool. Many of us, self-included would like to find the way. At the end of that path would be the golden goose for Pool.

I rarely go here but there is Matchroom live on demand. I have a free account there--free--- I imagine there is also a fair amount available for purchase. I rarely go there but since you mentioned it, I logged in and I'm looking around now to see what they have.

I understood the story, you made a point but consider this: Matchroom has always made Pool available to the US audience that is willing to pay for it. They have a business model. ESPN from my understanding doesn't pay for content so its unlikely you'll see Pool on ESPN. It may be free exposure...

Nice history. I remember when 8-ball was big as a game. I played it well because I understood the strategy. Today 9-ball is the new game and as you are suggesting Matchroom is in the process of standardizing that game with its nineball. branding. With Predator Group doing 10-ball, Matchroom...
