    What's the point of inlays?

Well, if yo look at some of the crazy graphics they have now on tennis rackets and golf club shafts - even color shifting paint...

    What's the point of inlays?

Well the splice joins denser tropical hardwood with maple, which helps give better balance. The points of the splice helps move some of that weight further up toward the shaft, and the configuration of the splice can also help minimalize wood movement, in kind of the same way radially-laminated...

    Routing question

Judging by the work of those who posted here, there's some good advice to be had. I think Thomas Wayne hit the nail on the head here. It's one thing if you are in production and have shareholders and employees. Their machines are probably faster - but they can do 5, 6, or more turnings at one...

New MC cup captain team USA

Bingo! If there was more organization and planning, like when Phil took the reins with the Ryder Cup, maybe the US would have a better chance.

    Shaw's Aiming

I'm not saying the word "system" is bad. Far from it. It's just semantics to me. My response was to GoldenFlash's comments, which I'll address (and hope addresses some of my thoughts on your comments as well): First off, you can hit the cue ball in many different places (in fact, an...

    Shaw's Aiming

So, Efren with his pumping gas stroke, and Bustamante, who looks like he's encircling the cue with the tip before making a stroke, are using systems? If you were at the table, not knowing what systems existed, and you wanted to learn how to cut a ball in with outside English for example...

    What are you saying

We used the word sandbagger when I played seriously, about 20 years ago... at least up in my parts. Or should I say, in my neck of the woods? Wait, it's the county in which I live....

    Cue display questions

I think another concern is using a material to cover the resting points that is inert and won't react with the cue finish. I would think this material would need some give, and I wonder if having slightly different pressure at those 3 points will cause finish issues or even allow some movement...

    Broken Revo

One can make a hardened ateel cue shaft, and you'd be able to fracture it the same way. There more than strong enough in their intended direction of use.

    Broken Revo

I'll asd too, that aside from my theory of the foam increasing the rigidity of the CF tube, which would contribute to the catastrophic failure, the shaft broke at the transition from the "parallel" section to the conical section, which acts as a stress riser at that transition. I see this a...

    Broken Revo

The point is, if someone wants to be a meathead with their cue, then let them. The warranty guarantees against warpage, not ham-handed orangutans beating on the table like a drum. As to nit-picking about marketing, who-did-what-first, how does it look.... who freakin' cares - if you're not...

    Cue display questions

I dunno... looks like those katanas have started taking a bow from the display stand.... I would not put it where there is sunlight as many woods darken with exposure to sunlight, and you'll see lighter spots where the cues rest. Maybe a better idea would be a rotisserie, like a watch...

    The Jump Shot

Exactly, the safe becomes a lot harder than the escape. In a situation where I had a razor delicate safe to play and the percentage was not high that I'd snooker my opponent where he couldn't jump, and I knew my opponent was the jump-master, I might probably be better off mashing the OB into...

    Tip shape

Once I shape the tip and play it in, when I go to reshape I do not touch the center, I just work around that center to the edges to retain the shape I want, and it pretty much stays there.
