What pool game improvements have you made during Covid?

Lack of motivation sucks. I know it's way easier to be motivated when you're playing in tournaments and there is some competition to get ready for. In the back of my mind, I've got a goal to move up a skill level from A to AA, when I go back to playing in tournaments. That certainly helps...

What pool game improvements have you made during Covid?

I was thinking about all the stuff I've improved in my pool game the last 6 months or so since Covid. Covid meant I was staying at home a lot more, and on top of that, I had one month break from work in July because of a mix-up with my IT consulting contract. It was meant to be a few days...

Kamui tips - has anyone had any problem with them

I notice my last super soft Kamui tip mushroomed pretty badly. Also, after you hit enough balls with super soft, they get harder as the leather compacts, so you probably are playing with a medium tip, once you break them in. If you need the super soft tip, you'll probably have to replace them...

Where to buy the Predator Arena Light

Awesome setup there for pool and carom! The guy from Predator didn’t mention the shipping delays out of China, but I told him I was a few months away from buying. Hope you like the light, whenever it comes!

Where to buy the Predator Arena Light

Good info GoldCrown. The price is right. I have played under these a couple times and liked them— excellent task lighting. I see they have a dimming capability with apple app similar to temperature control lighting on the Predator Arena system. I do like the ability to mount training...

Where to buy the Predator Arena Light

Predator Arena lighting is now available to buy I was searching the forums to see if anybody took the plunge to buy the Predator Arena lighting for at home use. It looks like this is the only thread, so I don't see much interest. Anyhow, I am considering replacing my Diamond coffin-style...

Review of SAWS video from Dr. Dave

I recently purchased the Vimeo stream of Dr. Dave's System for Aiming with Side Spin (SAWS). Here's a review, so that others can learn about it. High level overview of content - The main point of the video is how to adjust for deflection (squirt + swerve) due to applying side spin and still...

A Fresh New Look at Cut Induced Throw

I'd agree that our mind can adjust automatically for the effects of throw on many shots. However, there are some shots that don't come up as often in game play, and we don't realize that our mind does not have a program to be successful on these. Having knowledge of the physics of throw and...

Turning point of getting to next level of play

I've been using a video projector system on my home table since beginning of 2020 roughly. icatraining.com Since using the system, I played a couple of bar table 8-ball tournaments before Covid came on the scene and could tell my play was sharper. I was competing well in A division and...

    Top 10 SECRETS of Pool

Slightly off topic, but I appreciate the wealth of material on your website. I just bought your SAWS video. Here's the random path for how I ending up buying your video. I know it's the normal chaotic path of how we find most things on the web, but it's a bit amusing. Last night, I was...

    Developing Expertise In Pool

Imac007, you wrote a beautiful post, almost akin to poetry. Just reading it brought a smile to my face. The descriptions are vivid, the word choices are artistic and filled with imagery, and there is a flow to it (highly intentional pun).;) To summarize the main point of what you wrote is...

    Developing Expertise In Pool

You have a fascinating and thought-provoking way of describing things. I agree we need to install the triggers to let us enter a state that delivers high performance. As you mentioned, it should have a normal sense to it. I'll translate that to being a simple routine that may be...

    Developing Expertise In Pool

I'm digging the "mental PSR overlaid on the physical" concept! A mental PSR would need to include a strong belief that you can execute the next shot, i.e., no self doubt. Another aspect to include is focusing on process instead of outcome. I like to miss the shots which win the game, because...

    Developing Expertise In Pool

I also experience this phenomenon of shooting the shot anyways, even though I didn't feel like I had done my due diligence on aiming the shot. Besides being just lazy or having a let up in focus, I think there is a physical aspect to why we shoot early. Two things come to mind-- 1) holding a...
