    Joey Bautista Beauty

I agree Joey, it does look more like curly Koa. It is such a beautiful wood. I had a butterfly splice from Chuck Starkey made with curly Koa. It looks similar to curly maple with a slightly darker color.

CHALK TEST - Taom Pyro vs. Master

I have been using Taom Pyro exclusively for quite some time. It is by far my favorite chalk of all time. I love that it doesn’t transfer much dust to the cue ball. I also like the fact that it is round instead of square. I am one of those people who paints the chalk on their tip and it’s perfect...

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

Andrew, thank you for taking the time to post on this thread! I have contacted quite a few of these makers and have gotten mixed results: Diveney - contacted 2 years ago to make my first Rounceville. Pat was too busy and didn't want to take on any new projects. It may have changed since. He...

    Special Rare Joey Custom Cue

I had one just like it. It was wrapless with purpleheart for the handle. The cue itself hit great and the colors in the micarta looked very cool. The hit was very crisp. I ended up getting rid of it after I got Joey to make me a custom cue.

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

I spoke with Eric Crisp and he is not a fan of converting blanks. He has pretty much moved on to doing only what he likes to make. I also asked his main dealer Alex Goeden. He said it may be possible....in 6-7 years.

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

Very beautiful work. I went on Kelly's website and then got in touch with him. He is backed up with new orders until at least this summer. We definitely will work together to build a cue though. His full splice work is awesome. I also like the tomahawk material. I have a couple shafts with it...

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

These are a few pictures of all the Super Billiards Expo blanks that Andrew Rounceville just posted for sale. The one I bought is the fifth cue from the left. The handle is Camatillo with white, thin black and green veneers with an ebony front.

    Cuetec Cynergy vs Predator revo

I bought a Cuetec Cynergy because it was the only CF shaft available for 3/8x11 pin at the time. I wasn’t impressed. The taper didn’t bother me and I liked the white ferrule. The hit and feel for me was okay. I did not like the Tiger tip at all and I still wonder if I would have liked the shaft...

CJ Wiley presents Mental Game Secrets to Getting in the ZONE

CJ, As always, great information! I will definitely be getting Zen and the Art of Archery. I could see some parallels between you and Dalton and Ralph Eckert and his mentor Mr. Kim. His book “The Final Freedom: Reflections of a Master Student” is fantastic with excellent lessons highlighted...

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

Hu, the biggest dealer for John Davis is Martin with Superior Cues. Unfortunately John Davis passed away last year and the back up stock is dwindling. I was lucky enough to get a blank and have it finished by Rick Howard. I also had to trade in my first blank for a different one because Rick...

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

Mr. Chaplin, I completely agree that it takes a certain kind of person to take someone else's work and transform it. I feel like you have to put your personal goals of how you want to cue to turn out in favor of someone else's thoughts. Some people are fantastic at it and some people do it...

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

I understand he had a good relationship with John Davis and did a lot of his blank conversions. I just haven't heard much about how they play. Opinions? I don't know a lot about Ned Morris but I will do some research. I'm not super picky on my specifications. I haven't had any issues thus far...

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

I completely agree with Keith Josey. I have a cue coming from him in a couple months. I currently have one of his "Zero" LD shafts and I'm getting one of his "roasted" LD shafts with the new cue. Depending on how much I love it, I may get him to do the conversion as well. The only thing that...

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

Ken, I actually had a funny experience with a John Davis blank. I really wanted to get one because of his connection to Balabushka. I got the okay from Rick Howard that he would convert it to a player. The first one I picked out was a birds eye front and purpleheart back. I had it sent to Rick...

Favorite cuemaker for finishing a Rounceville or John Davis blank

Shelby's cues are awesome looking. I think that if I ever got a cue from him, I'd want him to do the blank. Do you have a cue from him? How does it play? The cue he created for the full splice cue challenge was amazing.
