    do I need professional lessons

I will second the Scott Lee nod. He does a great job and you will be busy every minute of the lesson. Its not a magic bullet but the things he teaches, if you practice them, will pay off gradually as you progress.

    do I need professional lessons

Hire an instructor to evaluate your stroke and help you set up a pre shot routine. Just know that there is no magic aiming system or potion that will make you good. Play, play, play and then go play people that are way better than you. Its amazing what you can learn by sitting in a chair and...

    schmelke cues whats the deal

Here is a pic of my Schmelkes. Both are 60" 18 oz. 12.5mm. The one with the wrap is rosewood/maple and the other is coco/maple. I think the Rosewood hits a little better.[/ATTACH][

    schmelke cues whats the deal

I got two custom made cues from them and i love them. Its cool because you can do some customizing for a cheap price. They won't turn out perfect but you won't beat them for the money. I got two 60" customs for around $600 and one of them is pretty tricked out.

    Bar pool ball in hand

League/pro rules are starting to bleed into the bars in San Antonio as its very difficult to find a bar table tourney that doesnt incorporate APA/BCA rules into the event. Now venturing into the small towns around SA youre going to run into the old school bar rules. As league popularity grows...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

I was raised to a 7 in 9 ball and promptly got my rear end handed to me. I kept hooking myself and my opponent was getting the rolls. On the personal side it is cool to get moved up but it hurts the team overall. Looking forward to getting more consistent leaves the rest of the way.

How big of a "pool sin" did I commit???

The biggest sin you committed was entering a "no safety" tournament. What a joke.

    Mezz cues are fantastic

I sold my Mezz to put the money toward a Scruggs. Sold the Scruggs, and I'm looking for another Mezz. I loved mine.

    Revo Revo revo

For the life of me I'll never understand what intrigues people to have an opinion on what type of equipment another person buys or uses. Who gives one diddly flyings F if someone wants to spend $500 on the latest and greatest shaft. I guarantee the people that abhor the existence of the REVO...

    Safeties vs Slop

Safety play is imperative to competitive rotation play. You should always be playing the table, not the opponent as far as Im concerned. If the situation calls for a safety, play a safety. I wouldnt get angry if someone better than me tried to 3 foul me. It would just mean I need to work on...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

We got smoked by one of the worst teams in our division last night in both 8 and 9. I will say, however, that as a team we had more fun than we have had in a long time. Lots of laughter and tomfoolery. At the end of the day thats what its all about.

New(old) Pool Hall Opens in San Antonio

Got to go hang out for a couple of hours on Saturday. The tables are nice as everyone knows. Its in an old building so its not shiny but I think they have a winner. I hope the locals support it and keep it open. It is a little pricey ($7 per hour for solo play; $10 per hour with 2). I will...
