Realistically, how much can one improve in under a year?

Yeah there's a lot of truth in this statement. At a certain point the game becomes mostly mental.

Realistically, how much can one improve in under a year?

No doubt. I wasn't trying to say everyone progresses the same I was just using myself as an example. I would say in general this is a game of small improvements over periods of time. Some people never get better and some get better quickly. It mostly depends on how much quality table time...

Realistically, how much can one improve in under a year?

This is the truth of the matter. I started playing in Feb of 2016 and I shoot almost every day. I have improved significantly but I struggle against more seasoned players. I have gone from an APA SL 3 to a 7 in almost 4 years but that is really meaningless once you start playing guys that...

APA e-mails are up, is the APA in trouble?

I've taken a lesson from Scott and it was nowhere near 2k. It was money well spent in my book but to each their own. He knows how to teach I can attest to that first hand.

APA e-mails are up, is the APA in trouble?

I'm assuming that you are a really good player so eliminating leagues would not affect you. However, what about lower tier players that are just being introduced to competitive pool? A banger is not going to enter more than one tourney without being completely overwhelmed by the talent gap...

Benefits of playing opponents with less skill

As someone who is striving to get better I can attest that this is absolute truth for me. When I play someone better than me I want their best game. It's the only way to truly gauge how far I still have to go.

    Made it through a rack

Playing it makes me truly appreciate the incredible runs some guys make. Just the shear fact that you can break Up every cluster that comes up and always have a shot in amazing. Really cool albeit frustrating game

    Being a strong player

This is true, I have definitely had my @$$ handed to me many a time in a handicapped league, however, the chances of running into a true run out player in the league I am in is slim to none. Sure there are guys and gals that can get out but I'm talking about playing people that DO get out...

    Being a strong player

As someone that has been playing in a handicapped league for 4 years now and has just recently begun to play against real run out players in a non-handicapped setting, I can confirm that playing handicapped does absolutely nothing to improve your game. Getting your teeth kicked in because you...

    Bar rules

I grew up in Small Town, Nowhere and the "bar rules" described here precisely describes pool play in the bars there. I can't stand having to defend my morality or manhood when I play defense in a "bar rules" scenario so I just don't play there. It's way better to play people that have a good...
