    Dime vs Nickel tip

Cowboy Jimmy Moore at 85 could still beat me to death on my best pool playing day. I know, because I played him in a little weekly torunament at Pro Billiards in ALB. He smooth stroked a couple bank shots, then wham, bam I was a Post Toasty. I asked him what the most frustrating thing was...

    Dime vs Nickel tip

my pool game can be summarized in 2 words......I suck. I was always an average banger, in stroke 25 years ago, downhill ever since due to age and failing eyesight....diabetic eye disease. I can still see well enough for everyday activities, but have lost lots of visual skills for pool, mainly...

    Is this legal?

Can you draw an indexing line on the cue ferrule so you can shoot with the same cue orientation on every shot?

    cue roller recommendation

I was looking for a cue roller, and settled on the Crical brand, via Amazon. They are well made, have some heft to them, i.e. steel, albeit made by the ChiComs. If you are shopping, take a look.

I got a 30 year old Moori medium tip on a shaft, how hard is it now?? Still has about 90% of its height, looks decent, but has gotten pretty hard and dried out.

Good players who do not look very good, while at the pool table, but still consistently run out.

Jimmy Moore had an 80 year old body and an 18 year old right arm and a stroke like it was on oiled ball bearings.

Have you ever visited a pool hall with really good house cues?

When Barley's Billiards opened in the mid 90s in Atlanta they had 2 piece plain McDermotts in different colors. My original pool joint, Fox Pool Room in Girard, Illinois, had old crap left over from World War One. The owner would retip these old cues, but never finish them. just glue a new...

    Your thoughts and opinions please…

Sounds like a good candidate to me. In addition to a phenolic tip, there are some hard leather break tips too. One of my "breakers" is a 18 ounce fiberglass wrapped cheap cue about 30 years old. Just had it retipped with a Triangle, sort of a medium-hard option. But I am old and don't bang...

    Looking for a cue

Basic design, lots of cocobolo, Hoppe ring, points or no points, wrap or no wrap. Just point me at a decent production cue for under a grand and save this old guy from stumbling around the interweb. TIA

Good players who do not look very good, while at the pool table, but still consistently run out.

there was a pretty decent player in Albuquerque who would bob up on his shot like a WhackAMole. I don't know how he ever made a ball. Everybody in ALB know who I am talking about.

Rule question Towel cloth in the pocket ?

if gloves are legal, just cover the offending spot on the pocket with a spare glove. Or if getting real picky, remove your glove for the shot, cover the offending spot, then put your glove back on and continue.
