There is absolutely nothing worse than hitting the cue ball with a shaft/tip combo that makes it feel like you have a marshmallow for a tip. Half of the cues I have tried feel like that to me, I don't know if its the soft tips or the carbon shafts but it certainly doesn't make me want to leave...

Is there a real possibility that this new Diamond has something other than 6 pockets, slate, a true 2:1 rectangle shape, cloth, and cushions? If not I can't for the life of me figure how this table will break differently unless there is something inherently wrong with the Gold Crown that we do...

Wow, that seems kinda odd, I believe the ends of my pedestals were Poplar and the plywood in the center was most likely Maple. It becomes readily apparent when staining, Poplar sucks up the stain and can easily get too dark if not careful where the Maple its seems all of the stain you put on...

Just looking thru your pics, you are leaving no stone unturned with that restoration, that table looks like it was pretty rough to start with, really makes me appreciate what pristine candidate that mine was/is. Cant wait to see it when its done.

You can see in the video clip that the OD of the foot is larger than the locknut so I would not be the least bit concerned about that. The downside is that a 3/4" x 16 Heli Coil or Timecert is probably going to be rather expensive.

But if it was only $399 more than you are willing to pay you might consider it???

Wow, that's surprising. I have a GCI with sub-rails modified for current cushion profiles and it has artemis cushions with Simonis 860, it goes 4 1/2 -5 table lengths consistently as do the Diamonds we play on.

Did you ever play on a table with dead cushions and fast cloth? Its a very unusual combination to get used to. We had one by us that the cloth was so fast that you almost had to hit a cushion to get the cue ball to stop. It was a miserable table to play on.

Because one can no longer purchase the Monarch profile. If I wasn't tightening the pockets on my GCI i definitely would have kept the Monarch Superspeeds on it, they were in great condition.
