    Why tournament blue?

Tournament Blue is fine, and the modern Aramith TV and Black sets look best on the blue, but I prefer the classic green cloth and ball colors. Alternate shades of green and blue are ok, camel/tan comes in 3rd, gray 4th. Red, orange, black, purple, pink, and anything with patterns is brutal...

    Equal Offense II

Update I’ve had about a dozen + sessions since last posting. Managed a pretty good improvement streak at the 3-miss level, with a peak of 124.7 on 12/18 in my last 10 sessions. Then a slump ensued in mid January, now I’m barely hanging on keeping my average at 120 at 3-miss level. Still...

    Reracking

Regarding the 1 and 5 in the corners for the opening break, if you really want to be old school. place the 15 on the head spot, high balls in the front and low near the back. Don’t ask me why this was considered the opening placement according to a racking diagram in ‘Winning Pocket Billiards’...

    Template racks in 14.1 taboo...?

How would a rack outline be drawn on a table using a template, in my mInd it would not accurately represent if balls are in/out of the rack. Just something to consider, or not. Not a big deal. Here’s what made me think of this: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/14-1-rack-outline.507801/

    Template racks in 14.1 taboo...?

A purist may point out that drawing the rack outline using a template poses a complication if not an impossibility.

    New Balls

If Aramiths still play after 4 million hits, I should be able to pass down my perfectly working set(s) to my family who will promptly donate them to Volunteers of America when I kick the bucket. However it’s nice when you find a set of barely used Aramith Premiums for $12 at said thrift store...

What color set of pool balls is best?

Funny that no matter what color combination is devised for pool, there seems to be opinions the colors are difficult to distinguish on TV or wherever. Meanwhile Snooker never seems to this problem. Maybe it’s the nature of pool balls with the numbers and stripes that make it a challenge for...

    Equal Offense II

Time for an update. I’d like to keep going with monthly updates, or when I have enough sessions worth of practice. Since November 12th I’ve had seven sessions. Had to miss a week for Thanksgiving. I’m teetering between the 3-miss level and 2-miss level. I’ve kept my average at the 3-miss...

When did the home table become popular?

I have the understanding that Brunswick Corp made a big push in the 1960s towards home table sales since the average middle class family was buying larger homes and had more space and expendable income than previous generations.

    Is This a Gold Crown?

Looks like a Gold Crown turned into customized Frankentable. My impression it was pieced together from spare parts.

Experiments in looking at the cueball while delivering the stroke.

Without going into my life history as a pool player, several months ago I did some practice looking at the CB last, and I felt it helped me focus on my stroke and having the cue tip strike the ball accurately and where intended. Looking at the CB last may work when warming up addressing the...

    626 is it legit?

I’d like to know what ever happened to that 8’ table Willie ran his 526. I’d like to believe somebody held onto it. There used to be an old creaky 4x8 with huge pockets in the very back of Suzi-Cue in Columbus, tucked away from all the Gold Crown I’s and bar boxes. I like to think that was...
