    Playing By Myself at Home

Tried Bowlliards today for the first time today. It’s ok and faster to play, but I’ll stick with Equal Offense for my primary solo practice game.

    That’s correct.

    Playing By Myself at Home

When you miss you’re done for that inning. Rack them up again and move to the next inning for a total of 10 innings. He happened to run all the balls so we missed the part about missing unfortunately. At my skill level I find Fargo pretty demoralizing. You get a bad inning and you’re...

    Playing By Myself at Home

Equal Offense is good, I’m currently keeping records of my progress improvement. Fargo, same thing Bowlliards looks interesting but haven’t tried it yet, another game where you can keep running average over multiple sessions.

    Equal Offense Practice

After watching Jerry Briesath’s latest instructional videos I learned more about ‘Equal Offense’ and the practice version to help improve your game. I’ve taken a lot of Jerry’s tips in his videos seriously to help improve my game, and I have noticed a difference. In practice Equal Offense the...

    Line-Up

They get spotted as close as possible down the long string and are frozen to any balls along the line. Once the foot rail is reached you work from the spot and up the table. At least that’s what I understand.

    Line-Up

Yes, but the 2017-18 BCA rules state: ‘If a player misses or fouls during the rack, he records his score and incoming player shoots, accepting the table in position.’ Sounds like what was made stays down. Nevertheless, I’ll go with Bob’s ‘77 version where you line up what you make after a...

    Line-Up

My rules are from the 2017-18 BCA edition, but after reading Mr. Jewett’s post, it’s still unclear on whether you spot after your miss, or after all 15 are off the table. Ultimately it’s up to the competitors to decide (of which there are probably 12 active in the entire world). This game...

    Line-Up

I think the answer is right in the rules, I missed the italicized text in parentheses: ‘If a player misses or fouls during the rack, he records his score and incoming player shoots, accepting the table in position.’ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Line-Up

I’m a mediocre to not very good 14.1 player but I really enjoy the game (both watching tournaments and playing). I did find the rules on Line-Up which the BCA rules say is a forerunner of 14.1. It also appears to be a better option for novice straight pool players in that there’s no...

    Mr. and Mrs. Pocket Billiards

On the occasion when I can get the wife to play, finding a game that can be fun and competitive can be tricky. The universally known 8-Ball is an obvious choice, but handicapping is trial and error. Since she’s a beginner and I’m intermediate level, finding a balance between easy and tough on...

    Ball return versus drop pockets

Ok you got me, guilty as charged. [emoji846] Haven’t played on a Brunswick ball return in literally decades only Valley and Diamond bar boxes. Still, I would be the person unlucky enough to get miscellaneous junk fall into a ball return and get stuck. Honestly(!) playing on both BR and DP...

Spots on super pro aramith balls?

What kind of cloth does the OP have, and how new is it? I always thought this was from certain cloths made with stain resistant chemicals until the cloth breaks in. When I got new Simonis 860HR my really old Aramith Crowns looked like this after being polished before play. After a few months...

Do you ever see players placing their Cigarette on the rail before shooting?

I smoke (need to quit), and I’m glad smoking is a thing of the past with pool. Who remembers burn marks and ash all over in the cloth and rails (everything for that matter), slow dirty balls and cloth with a gross film all over them, your hand turning black after 10 minutes of play, and the...

The reason I prefer 8 ball over 9 or 10 ball.

All three games have an element of luck involved due to how balls spread on the break, though good players overcome or know how to manipulate this into their favor by tactical safety play. If you want to remove as much game induced inherent luck as possible play One Pocket or Straight Pool...

    Ball return versus drop pockets

Sounds like a case for drop pockets. Not to mention whatever else can be dropped down and get stuck; coins, bottle peas, general dust and debris, etc. Drops are easier to clean, and cheaper if you’re buying new. I like both, but certain games seem to lend themselves better to drop or ball...

what cues are saving up for ?

Currently play with a base Pechauer but really like the looks of the JP17-Q. I think the price point matches my skill level but who knows. Does it really matter?
