Thanks. :) Here is the bumper. https://www.muellers.com/Recessed-Brown-Rubber-Bumper,5632.html It is the standard recessed 1" bumper that is held by a cap screw into a bolt. I grind mine to a smaller diameter, but otherwise it is the same.

Howdy Harold. Thanks. I cored it after the splice. It was stable in the square. There were no unusual concerns during the cutting.

A recently delivered cue. I don't think there are many full splice Thuya burl cues around. This one was a pleasure to build. All white except the Tomahawk ferrules is deer antler. There is a little write up at my page below where you can click the thumbnail to load a larger version...

The rings that look dark above/below the white ring at the butt are stacked veneers matching the veneers in the cue. The trim ring at the joint is the double blue rings. This is what the customer wanted.

I did nothing. My material, in the rough, has held contrast for years. I'm sure there will be some slight darkening as this happens with nearly every wood, but I have not seen what you describe with my pyinma.
