    The Gospel According To Darren

I think aiming systems are just a way to stop your self from over thinking the shot. They provide a person with a set out routine to follow so people can't second guess themselves. All a person has to do who struggles with aim is follow a set routine and focus on anything but aiming. How...

How Would You Play This? Safety Time

Roll the 1 into the rail right next to the 9/6.hide the cue ball against the 8. It serves two purposes. They can jump and the kick is tough, especially if you get to the right of the 8...they would have to go 3 or 4 cushions to escape. The main purpose though is to get the 1 close to the cluster...

    Break and scratch

Of he hits it square he smashes the table lights. I agree with Fran, you do have to work much harder with an open bridge... I can't do it. I deem to remember Colin on YouTube breaking with an open bridge.

attitude or fundamentals...which is more important ?

I've never experienced it. I've never seen any of the guys I regularly play experience anything like this either. Players with sound fundamentals will play well regardless of their mentality. I am a pessimist by nature but if I don't think I'm going to beat someone I don't play bad because of...

attitude or fundamentals...which is more important ?

In pool I practice straight in shots... A LOT. I hit maybe a hundred a day before I even think about playing. I aim to hit stop shots at about 6-7 ft apart. Object ball is not far from the pocket... I concentrate purely on how I hit the cue ball. The aim is to hit them form and stop the white...

My Thread... just so I can make some comments on... whatever.

I think it would be a better idea to have a universally accepted pocket size. You go into a strange pool hall to play a guy, I would take comfort knowing the pockets would be cut and are the same size as the tables at my pool hall.

attitude or fundamentals...which is more important ?

With good solid fundamentals your par game will become higher. Without them you will score -10 one day and +18 the next. They bring consistency to your game I guess is what I'm trying to get at. They won't make you play amazing over night or over the course of a year but you won't have as many...

    Break and scratch

Here is Chinese 8 ball player Zheng Yubo absolutely hammering a rack. He has all the same tendencies as Shane with a very early rise and a lot of shoulder action. He uses an open bridge to break which I find even more amazing that he is able to generate so much power. The cue ball does a huge...

Stan's Perception Curtain Video - My Version

Perhaps not. I always knew I should have gone into the curtain business. I feel shots into blind pockets. .. It could be a curtain blocking it, the large waitress or a number of things force you to focus deeply on the two balls relationship. Something most take for granted. Regardless of...

Stan's Perception Curtain Video - My Version

I hear bonus ball is to be replaced by curtain pool. It's an up and coming discipline in pool. Mother's around the country are grounding their children because they have stolen the curtains to take to the pool hall.

Why Is There So Much Interest With Systems In Pool?

Whose to say approaching shots like some systems set out is best or very effective for most? It's surprising how you naturally do things is best. Sometimes it takes very minor adjustments but not much.

    Are fundamentals just a myth?

The more strict the equipment gets... Larger tables, smaller pockets and so on the more you realize fundamentals are not a myth.

Why Is There So Much Interest With Systems In Pool?

This is very true. All a system is I think is a systematic approach to a given task. If a player can pick apart why they are successful into steps so to speak then they can fall back on those steps in times of need. It could be how they walk into the shot, how the grip rests in their hand. But I...

Why Is There So Much Interest With Systems In Pool?

But why do people need a sysyem? Countless professionals have proven you don't need systems to make it as one of the best. Not all have a God given talent for the game. It shows there are no shortcuts and enough hard work will get you there.

Why Is There So Much Interest With Systems In Pool?

I don't know of any system where a player follows the same steps for each shot. The SEE system for example... Different steps for different angles. Different steps for different spins. The mirror system for kicking and banking... Different steps depending on speed and spin. I don't think at the...

I haven't played straight pool in God knows how long then one morning I really got the urge to play. 157 on the first attempt whilst in my boxer shorts. Sometimes it's best to not expect and...
