    My Cue Action

I'm used to playing on slow cloth as a kid on the snooker tables. That's it pretty much. On today's fast cloth there isn't any advantage that I can see of pulling back as far as I do. Although this was a crappy table and rather slow, most are fairly quick and a pull back of half my length would...

    My Cue Action

The 8 with inside was the plan at the start. But from behind the shot the stun with a bit of outside just looked too appealing. I did get lucky though I was trying to figure out the angle I wanted to come off the rail... But wasn't stood behind the shot when doing it and got side tracked with...

    My Cue Action

Lol I was playing with a groin strain which doesn't help with running around the table. But I am a generally slow player. I was actually trying out some advice gene gave out. Trying to keep my dominant eye along the shot line and then finally over the cue which feels a bit alien to me and I was...

    My Cue Action

There's been a lot of talk of cue actions and strokes of late and I've had a few requests from people I've tried helping out to show them how I cue. Here it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rT7By0ersww

    Your favorite "stroke" shot

10 ft of distance between object ball and cue ball, straight in and screw the white back in and out of baulk dead straight. It's a novelty shot, I've never had it come up in a game but it's still nice to pull off.

Some Tips on How to Play While Nervous

I embrace the nerves. They make me play on another level.

Is Elbow Drop after Tip Contact a Bad Thing?

Some people need to learn to stop with the arguing because it isn't how they do it. You would think they played at the top level. If how they did it was the best way they would be hitting that cue ball as good as the guys at the top. It makes me laugh.

Is Elbow Drop after Tip Contact a Bad Thing?

I do like a nice leather wrap though. I only use a wrap on my break cue the rest are wrapless and I'm thinking about getting a leather wrap put on a cue all the way to the bumper.

Is Elbow Drop after Tip Contact a Bad Thing?

Judd Trump is one of the only top level players... Like top 32 that doesn't drop his elbow. I can think of maybe 3 more who don't in the top 50. There is a good reason for this. Because snooker players get as low as possible with the chin on the cue, if they pulled back with a fixed elbow the...

Is Elbow Drop after Tip Contact a Bad Thing?

All in the shoulder mate. Mine often ends up higher than I contacted the white on firm stun run through shots, when the white was fairly close to a cushion... Like a foot or two close. Because I only have the cue less than an inch over the cushion on these shots, as I drop my elbow on the follow...

Is Elbow Drop after Tip Contact a Bad Thing?

To drop or not to drop.... It really doesn't matter. My tip never touched the cloth unless I'm playing with screw back... And quite a bit at that. My cue is always as level as I can get it and is usually less than an inch above the rail. I've never understood why instructors recommend having the...

Why do people waggle fingers on bridge hand?

There are a few reasons that come to mind. One is its a nervous reaction as Dale said. Another is it helps with the timing... Well it doesn't really help but finger taps and waggles amongst the pros tend to be very reiterative and they move to their own personal timing even though they won't be...

Why Do Snooker Players Bend Their Elbow?

The cue runs along my chest of that's what you mean, and yes the bent elbow does lower the torso especially the chest a little. This could also be a reason for the bent elbow... To get as low as possible with comfort in mind.

    Narrow Shoulders vs. WIDE Shoulders

The same has been said for fat vs thin players but it doesn't seem to matter if the players out in the effort. Judd Trump and Stephen Lee come to mind. Both have two of the best looking and most reliable cue actions known to man.

Lining up center cue ball and dominant eye

I'm opposite eye dominant and the only way I can cue accurately is with both eyes evenly either side of the cue with the left eye a fraction closer to the cue ball with a slight turn of the head. Not to mention when I'm tired. In this instance I massively favour my non dominant eye with it...

Why Do Snooker Players Bend Their Elbow?

With a locked elbow I grip my pool cue at the very back of the butt, not ten on the grip. With a bent elbow I grip at the very bottom of the grip. Shifting about a hand further up the cue so you just have to choke up a little. Again, with vision, you just make minor adjustments and anyone who...

Why Do Snooker Players Bend Their Elbow?

Snooker cues are the same length. They just don't have a rubber bumper so when they are upright on the floor they look slightly smaller by an inch or so.

Why Do Snooker Players Bend Their Elbow?

Its how it forces the body to be positioned. You effectively don't hit the chest as soon as you do with a locked elbow.

Why Do Snooker Players Bend Their Elbow?

I agree the snooker world do have a warped sense of some of the physics behind the game. They don't have a Dr Dave though to be fair. More and more are starting to read through his website and more and more are getting to grips with what actually goes on when playing with side. The follow...
