That's a good question. I might make balls more often with a side break but I lose the cue ball and usually have poor spread. Overall, I do better when I stay within the Matchroom break box.

Green Scotchbite has abrasive material, it will scratch stainless steel. The balls should never get so gunky that they need that kind of abrasive. A wet paper towel will get everything off any pool ball I've seen, cleaners can make it a little easier.
When I've tried it, it seems like the results are often better than my typical break, but there is definitely a good chance of selling out the game. I don't play much one pocket so a skilled player might see less upside and more drawback to the kick break.
Anyone here ever do a kick break in one pocket? If you are shooting for the left pocket, set up on the left side of the table and kick off the right long rail into the rack.
