Mark, in 1999 Nick won two World Titles. Early in the year, he won the World Bank Pool Championship in Louisville Kentucky. Nick closed out the year by winning the WPA World 9-Ball Championship in Alicante, Spain. Thanks for the contest.

    Pool Cue Shaper

I've used the Willard for years but about six months ago I bought a Last4Ever. It's more expensive but well worth it - a great shaper.

    Shafts

The best in the West is Ned Morris. He lives in Desert Hot Springs just a few miles from Palm Springs. PM me if you'd like his telephone number.

    Can someone explain this

I believe he's right. I've seen the same shot done the length of the table. Transfer of spin to the object ball.

Ron Thomas Case Lid Too Tight - Any Suggestions?

You might try waxing both sides. If that doesn't work Lowe's sells a bottle of dry teflon (teflon particles in a liquid). Shake the bottle well because the teflon particles settle out and then apply (again to both sides). Give it a minute or so for the liquid to evaporate which leaves a thin...

Best Strongest and Fastest Setting Tip Glue

I also use the CA glue from my .99 cent store. The reason I do, is that there are two small tubes of glue in a package which sells for 99 cents. I've used Loctite and it works very well. My problem with Loctite is that's it's a large bottle and I only do about 1 or 2 tips/month for friends...

    Table on a covered patio

I live in the Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage area and have a Global bar box on my patio. I've had it for about 3 years now and aside from getting dusty, haven't noticed any deterioration. I do keep a very heavy vinyl table cover on it. But with temperatures as high as 120 degrees, I have to...

Least expensive price per hour you can remember

In the front of Evon's Pool Room in NYC, the old men played 8-Ball for .05 cents per game and Evon racked each game. In the back room, he had two 9 foot tables where my buddies and I played. He charged .25 cents/hour. This goes back to the late 40's and early 50's. I'd go to the movies on...

    Brunswick Gold Crown I

Don't be a piker. It's well worth the 2k if the table looks to be in excellent condition plus there might be a really good cue in the batch. She's probably going thru a rough patch after losing her Dad.

Efren is still the magician . . .

Efren and Earl Strickland have been the most dynamic players during the last 35 years. As the old Polish saying goes: "Old chicken makes good soup!".

What is the best cue you ever played pool with?

I shoot with a Schon CX-06 fitted with a McDermott I-3. The I-3 has a tip diameter of 11.75mm and I like the Moori Soft tip on it. I'm very comfortable playing with this cue. It's well balanced and just has a good "feel" to it.

    Congratulations to Earl Strickland!

Scott is absolutely 100% correct in his analysis. Earl has been a major force in pool for the past 35 years. In my opinion, he is one of the best players ever seen in this sport. He's a terrific shot maker, a master of positional play, a deadly safe player, and has shown outstanding...

    Brunswick Convertible?

I agree with Fast Lenny. It's a beautiful table and probably worth a lot more than a nine footer. Now all he needs is a good opponent - someone like Earl Strickland.

What's the point of a smaller tip?

I shoot with a 11.75mm tip. Others have already mentioned deflection (my ferrule is only about 3/8" long, which also helps) but I like a small tip because it allows me to hit the cue ball with geometric precision which results in better position of the cue ball. Try playing with a small tip, I...

MOSCONI CUP 2012 Who Will Win This Year and Why?

Although Rodney Morris is a great player, for some strange reason, Rodney doesn't play well in the Mosconi Cup. I think Team USA would do well by not having Rodney on the team.

    No Archer for the Mosconi???

In my opinion, Johnny has been a leader and inspires other team members to play their best. I hope to see him on the team again. What has me perplexed is that Rodney Morris is a great player but for some reason he consistantly bombs when playing in the Mosconi Cup. I have to give it to the...

    Oddity- Moori Hard/Quick and mushrooming

I used to shoot with a Moori Medium. Had a little mushrooming a few weeks after installation but none after that. Switched to Moori soft about 2 years ago. Used 3 in that time. You'd expect some mushrooming with a soft tip but never had any mushrooming with any of the 3 soft tips. I've...
