    Advice Wanted

You may not like my advice (and probably a slew of others also won't) but save your money. An expensive custom cue won't play any better that a good production cue. If you think it will improve your game you're delusional.

    Earl and the Mosconi

I agree with you with the exception of Rodney Morris. Rodney is a great player but for some reason he just doesn't do well when playing in the Mosconi Cup. Earl is one of the best and would certainly add some spark to the team. Just what they need to get out of the doldrums they've been in...

    Chalks.

I use Master's Green chalk because I've found it the best at a low price. I rarely miscue using it. I have tried Silver Cup, NIR, Triangle, Blue Diamond and Balabushka. The only one that comes close to Master's is the Blue Diamond but at a much higher price. I've not tried Kamui or Predator...

I just wanted to say thank you

Please add my thanks to the many that have shared their expertise. I'm just an average player that likes to work on his own cues. The knowledge I have has been learned here on the AZ Forum. It's a great site.

The funeral for my only daughter, was today at 11:AM. She is gone, but not forgotten.

Sorry for your loss. The loss of one's parent is very tough but I would imagine that the loss of one's son or daughter would be even tougher. Thoughts and prayers with your family.

Low ball offers on the for sale thread

Great advice. If you respond in a rude and negative way, you'll lose that potential customer forever. A low bid is just an opening ploy. As far as the true value of an item - it's what the buyer is willing to pay for it and what the seller is willing to sell it for. If the initial asking...

An odd requiest but here it goes....

Go to Walgreen's Drug store and buy a rubber cane tip. You may want to take a shaft with you to see if they fit right. That's what I did years ago when I first started. Used an electric drill held in a vise on my workbench. Worked fine for cleaning shafts and replacing tips. Here's a thread...

    The Great Chalk Bake Off

Hey Cowboy, temperature here last week was 122 degrees. Guess spring is here. Don't know what it was in my garage but you could burn your hand if you touched the car or the steering wheel. When I moved here from Tucson a few years ago it hit 127 degrees. My chalk stays in a box on a shelf in...

Rip-off Report on Glen, The Real King Cobra "UPDATE"

JAM, that's a very generous offer. You seem to be a very nice person. I've refrained from commenting on this thread because I don't have much to say that's different from many comments already made. I had a lot of respect for Glen and always enjoyed seeing his pics of tables he had worked...

    Need Opinions on a recloth

I bought new rails from Ridgeback for my Global bar box. Recovered with Simonis 860HR Tournament Blue. Looks are outstanding and it plays beautifully. Have had many compliments on how the table plays. Good luck with whatever you decide.

    Rail calibrations

My hat's off to you Sir - you seem to be the type of guy that doesn't sit back on his laurels and just coasts. You appear to be the type that's always looking for ways to do the job better. Wish there were more of you. By the way, thanks for sharing with us your new tooling.

    Hello From Myrtle beach

Very nice job on that Global table. I usually have either Simonis Tournament Blue or Green installed but that Camel (?) looks pretty good. Trust your enjoying the Myrtle Beach area and good luck to you.

    Fiber TIp Pad Question

I like the look of a red fiber tip pad between the cue tip and the ferrule. I've considered installing one on my next tip change but a question is nagging me. Would it affect performance (it's very light so it may not induce more deflection)? Anything I should worry about if I decide to...

Showing off my Gandy Big G LTD

That's a really nice table and thanks for posting. We have two Gandy Big G's in our community rec room. Both were recovered with Simonis Green and new rubber installed by Donny of SD Billiards. He did a great job and the tables play very well. Just kick back and enjoy.

    Durometers

Following is a listing of cue tip hardness rating using a Shore A Durometer (for softer materials - a D Durometer is used for harder materials) courtesy of PoolDawg: The methodology we use for testing tip density is as follows: • Use a standard Shore A Durometer (0-100 hardness scale) •1Kg (2.2...
