Going to try CF, any suggestions?

Companies' carbon-fiber shafts differ. McDermott uses a shock-absorbing material intertwined in the carbon fiber, Smacwrap, to change its hit, sound and feel from the most-metallic acting carbon fiber shafts. Proof of a sort that it did that are videos of McDermott's Defy shaft dropped on...

    Drills to correct your alignment

It is often sold as a HAMB drill that will improve your game by practicing it every day for months. Can't it be useful in some other fashion? Can't someone develop a calculatus-eliminatus method of learning from it? Something like: If you cannot achieve 80% or better, review stroke with...

Who else uses veneers outside of inlays in cue construction? Here is Jacoby's description of its 140-piece Ultra Super Pro shaft that is all wood and is only veneers: This is one of the best wood shafts on the market! The Ultra shaft has all the benefits; more power, increased smoothness...

New wood & carbon fiber butt: Wood veneer over carbon fiber --- Becue's WAS

Fake wood is plastic that looks like wood. See Triple 60 Whyte Carbon wood-grain shaft. Wood veneer is wood, albeit damn thin wood that appears thicker than it really is.

New wood & carbon fiber butt: Wood veneer over carbon fiber --- Becue's WAS

Becue makes it sound better and preferred for the player.. I think it's most help for the cuemaker to make inexpensive and durable cue butt.

New wood & carbon fiber butt: Wood veneer over carbon fiber --- Becue's WAS

Becue makes it sound special and it does look good. From Becue's website regarding the Was butt: Wood applied to carbon as a natural veneer, a real layer of timber wrapped around the monolithic carbon fiber structure that defines every Becue cue. This is not a wood cue with a carbon core. The...

Yapp’s Controversial Tournament-Winning Shot in the 8-Ball World Championship … Was it a Foul?

I think its more like people are dishonest when much is at stake. French law, I believe, presumes a defendant lies. This is not a criticism of the defendant, its a recognition of human nature that to the French, the defendant tends to lie. I think its probably true, too, that people are...

Lengths of the wood pieces are 57". There are no ferrules on the cues. The length is measured to tenon tip. There is some wobble to the cues. Butt widths for the 16, 17, 18, and 19 oz cues are 1.35", 1.37", 1.39", and 1.39" diameter, respectively. Diameter below where ferrule would fit...

💯What kinds of wood in these hundred-year old cue sticks? 💯

I have Briggs one-piece cue sticks made sometime between 64 and 125 years ago. This was the period in which the O.L. Briggs & Son company was in business in Boston. Can you tell me what kind of wood was used from looking at photos? The wood at the butt is darker in the 18 and 19-ounce cues...
