Qualifiers are going on right now.
Some betting odds to win
Interesting fact. The last time someone won the WC without winning a ranking or invitational event that season was Ronnie in 2013.
Here are this season's winners of ranking and invitational events. Good chance the winner is from...
Cue and Racks are both about 40 minutes from the venue.
Which is odd, because Cue and Racks are about 30 minutes from each other.
I guess that's Florida traffic for you.
This was all I could find on the event, and the only names I recognize besides Oi are Lining, Alcano and Zielinski.
I don't know if there's an exact definition of a major these days, but I'd say it should meet these requirements
1. Total prize money $100k+
2. At least 5 of the top 10 (or 15)...
Hard not to root for either guy. This would be Biado's 3rd or 4th world title? For Oi, having a world championship as your first major title would be an amazing accomplishment.
Ronnie quit plenty of matches for lesser reasons in his career and is still regarded as one of the greatest snooker players in the world.
People will get over this in short time.
I think it could work, but only if the 9b was the first event. No way MR would stand to have their matches not start on time because someone was still playing their 1p match.
Something needs to change, but I don't see what top players boycotting will do.
1. Not all of the top players will boycott
2. The dead money is still going to show up for "the experience"
Darren made post about it being a young man's event now and it shouldn't even classify as a ranking event.
Then Jayson replied
It would be interesting to know which top players said the same thing, and what percentage of them are over the age of 30
