Don't forget that the shaft will probably not be centered.

    Buffer/polisher

Buffer Slower generates less heat. You might want to look into the shop fox buffer head and then get a 1750 rpm motor locally and use pulleys to controll the speed.

    Buffer/polisher

That would be a great buffer. I have one of the old Grizzley Guitar buffers( no long sell), it turns at 1200 rpm and works great.

    Butt taper question

Then again, many a straight taper has been undone with the heavy hand of sand paper and a good dose of finish

    Uv

I'm going to repost what I said earlier "They repackage the van tech stuff. I could never get the sealer to work. I'd let it dry, then shot the first coat of uv. When I sanded it the next day, the sealer was still wet. I sent a paduak plain jane to van tech and they were never able to get it...

straight parts, not so straight roll

Not so straight Screw the shaft onto the butt. Using your fingernail, go around the joint and see if the shaft is concentric with the butt. ( it should be either flush, or the small offset all around the joint.) If it isn't then that may be part of the problem.

Steve Klapp....one piece butt ancient maple cue. AWESOME

I'm just interested on how the 140 year date was arrived at. Most of the old growth maple I've seen recovered was logged at the turn of the century. And no one new when it started to grow.

More CAD to Cue.. Steve Klein

More CAD Working with someone that is Autocad savy is a cuemakers dream come true. Once Joe and I got on the same page with cutter diameters and lengths of cuts he could let his imagination run wild. If memory serves me correct, those cameo's underwent at least 4 cad revisions. Including...

    Adventures with clear coat

Adventures in clear coat The cigarette price comparision was a poor attempt at humor, but then again. I knew(all dead) several cabinet shop finishers that both smoked and shot catalyzed varnish with out a mask. Also knew a house painter that would sit on a 5 gal pail to smoke his cigarette...

    Adventures with clear coat

Adventures in clear coat I'll disagree with KJ. If you look at the recommended use of the filters, they talk about a schedule of use, since the iso has no smell that we can recgonize the carcoal in the filter will loose effetiveness before you can smell the other products. How long it lasts...

    Adventures with clear coat

No, No, No, No. I have a 3 phase 18 inch exhaust fan and I still wear a mask. They are cheap health insurance. Do you think the smell is transmitted magically to your nose. It's particulate in the air, the air you are breathing, the air your lungs are filtering. Something else to consider...

    Uv

I first tried it in 08 and gave up. Wish I had stayed with it. Started up again about 1 1/2 years ago. I'll never go back. As a little bonus, I have not cleaned my uv spray gun since I started up again. I have the plastic cup blacked out. Just hang it up till you need it again. But you...

    Uv

They repackage the van tech stuff. I could never get the sealer to work. I'd let it dry, then shot the first coat of uv. When I sanded it the next day, the sealer was still wet. I sent a paduak plain jane to van tech and they were never able to get it to work to my satisfaction. Nice...

    Adventures with clear coat

That's what it takes, everyone has a different technique, and different clears, compressors, and guns. I'd keep a log as you try things. psi, distance from cue, amount of reducer if you use any, temp. Nothing worse than shooting a good test and next day have no idea how you did it. I...

    Adventures with clear coat

Adventures I think it was Murray Tucker who originally made the point. You don't spin a car when you shoot it. It can help, but not necessary. Practice on a piece of cardboard and you can really see the spray pattern and how thick you are putting it on. Be careful of thick coats, you'll...

    JET BDB-1340A lathe

Bdb 1340 I have had one for close to 16 years and except for a starter capacitor have had no problems that weren't my fault. 2000.00 delivered in those days. Parts are supported out of the states by WMH tools who now owns Jet. Knowledgeable people working there to help if you have any parts...
