    Gold Crown Restoration

That is a GC1. Now that you mentioned the skirt. I took one off of a 10' snooker GC1 (Or 2) that had Ashtrays in the metal castings.

    Cliff Joyner vs. Stevie Moore

Stevie and Cliff are both excellent players. But from what I have heard is that Stevie is more of a 9ball player while cliff is a 1pocket player. It's tough to hook a 1 pocket player. Especially one as good as Cliff. However if I played them in a race to 1000 then the score would more than...

Plug for Mark Gregory (Table mechanic in Southeast)

I wish someone would send Mark Gregory over to Cues 2. Whoever did those tables didn't do that great of a job. I'm a table mechanic and one day I'm going to go in there with my equipment. Take the cap off and stretch that felt back myself. I might even take the cap back with me and put some...

Who's the best table mechanic in the Southeast?

I've never really liked the Blue Wax. We have used it before but on some tables it would come up. Mainly on ones with Waterputty on it from before. We use pure beezwax and we never have problems with that. I have used Waterputty but I only use that on tables with big chunks missing or where...

    Gold Crown Restoration

I normally keep the cap on top of the table and cut the top of the cloth. You have to be careful not to cut into the rubber. Once I do that I pull the feather strips out and pound the rail cloth in. Once I do that I flip the cap with the skirts. Unless the skirts are not secured. I put it...

    Cliff Joyner vs. Stevie Moore

That should be an interesting match. They probably agreed on 8ball because I think Stevie might have Cliff in 9ball. But Cliff would have stevie in 1pocket. So they sort of met in the middle I guess. Either way I wish I wasn't so broke or I'd go out and watch it.

    how to replace rails?

We use Championship on all the tables we sell. Unless someone specifies for Simonis. We do use Mali on occasion. I think it is $10 cheaper and people can sometimes be really cheap. However Championship I think is the best non-worsted cloth.

Refelting a table - glue or staples?

Staples are the way to go. You can make it tighter. And if you have to redo a section becuase it has wrinkles or a defect in it. It is easier to pull some staples then put some back in. Sometimes certain tables (like Leisure bay/American Heritage, craftmaster, etc) have slate liners that...

    Gold Crown III Rail Problem

That table use to belong in a pool hall/bar didn't it? 9ballnut is correct. The round plates he is speaking of is the same as the old Gandy's. The rectangular nut plates are better but you have to do what you have to do.

    how to replace rails?

A slow bounce and a thud is usually a sign of a bumper that has come loose. When you press the cushion how does it feel? Everything should be consistant. Not too soft. But not to hard either. Being an AMF chances are the cushion is a K-66

    smoked at 1 pocket

I got drilled by a player one time at "The Pool Room". He came over and talked with me because I was playing 14.1. According to him (Which I believe) he placed 7th in a 14.1 World Championship back in the early 80s. I played him in Straight Pool (This being my first straight pool game with...

    how to replace rails?

If they can be done by a profesional then do it. Once you replace the felt and the cloth you basically have a new table. Those are the only things that go bad on them. High Quality cushions lifespand is generally 15years. If the table is in an ideal enviroment and is taken care of. I've...

    Straight pool. What a game!!

I'm taking a great liking to straight pool. Unfortunatly in Atlanta it is hard to come by people who play it. And on top of that people who excell at it. I played a man at "The Pool Room" in Duluth one afternoon. He had to go to 100 and I had to go to 20. The final score was 100+ to 4. Me...

    Getting a Gabriel

I'm suprised that the Gabriel has unbacked slate. The backing that is attached to a frame is basically what an American Heritage/Leisure Bay or a Craftmaster is. Is it better to have backed slate. I would also find it odd for a table to have a frame that doesn't come apart. But I have...

what is the best gambling match you have ever seen?

Before I ended up in the Pool Scene. I would play often at Murphy's Brass Rails in Athen,GA. I played a lot. But never interacted with other players. So I don't recall who these people where. But while at Brass Rails they use to have a table right near the front. It is where the Dart...

    Best All-Around Cue Maker

From what I have heard is that Shon is basically a custom cue maker. But you don't get to specify what you want like you would with other custom makers. My favorite is my Schon. If the poll read "What is the best cue for the money". As in your factoring in the price. I would have to go with...

The Pool Room (ATL) is donating some more cash!

How much of the Duluth room do you plan on using? I'm wanting to practice on Sunday (since it is the only day I have somewhat free) but I won't be in the tournament.

The Pool Room (ATL) is donating some more cash!

One thing about living in Atlanta is you can get jaded easily when it comes to pool halls. I go to other areas and I'm thinking... "Just a Gold Crown 3??? Man this Simonis must be 3months old. They would use the Aramiths instead of the Super Aramiths wouldn't they. Cheapos"

do you guys ever not post things here because............

One thing that is nice about the internet is the animosity that is granted to us. By remaining anonymous we can truly give your honest opions. Me trying to remain anonymous allows me to critique pool table questions without revealing my company. Nor having say a rival company go nuts on me...

do you guys ever not post things here because............

I try to stay as anonymous as possible because I am in the pool table business. So I post and reply to subjects that often relate to pool tables. But I also get into flaming and heated off topic and sometime on topic debates. So I don't want my personal opinion to represent my company. We do...
