    DEFLECTION

I learned about it 55 years ago the first time I tried to cut the black off the spot into the corner from the brown spot on a snooker table. After seeing what reaction/path the CB was taking with all the siding I was putting on it I bought some shafts and had them turned to different mm"s and a...

two new elk master 13mm tip boxes in a row very hard / old?

I just got the Elk Master tips delivered by Amazon. I did my little bounce test and they all sounded the same as far as I can tell. I took off the old tip and put one on and I'll see if it's any good. Worst comes to worst I'll keep them for the 4 one piece house cues I have and go see the local...

Info from Oscar for all the Brunswick lovers out there.

I've been to 3 Dooly"s in the Halifax area as a spectator to watch 8-9-ball tournaments. I don't know anyone here and wanted to check out the competition. I didn't check out the tables and if they're Black Crowns I'll be happy lol. The Predator Tour has been expanded to 4 provinces and and the...

Info from Oscar for all the Brunswick lovers out there.

A new GC is around $17K + CAD here and too rich for my blood so I opted for a Black Crown ( Canadian table) .I played on Black Crowns for several years and I liked the way they played and figured one would do as a home table vs the furniture looking tables.

    Recommendation: Pool Table Light ?

We bought an acre 3 years ago dirt cheap on a small lake and cleared enough to have a parking area, firepit, 10x14 solid gazebo and park our 38 ft motorhome and spend our summers here. We had a massive dock built for our pontoon and plans changed when I got ill and decided to stay and build. We...

    Recommendation: Pool Table Light ?

The builder built up the floor where the legs were going to sit before he put the subfloor down. He spanned the room with a 30ft steel beam so no posts anywhere and 9ft ceiling. The poolroom is 1160 sq ft lol and we designed the house around it. The wife got her dream kitchen and I got a...

    Recommendation: Pool Table Light ?

I looked at all sorts of lights for the room/table and decided to go with the 4 pot . There's a 60 watt LED in each pot and they give off plenty of light and not seeing the glare of the bulbs when sitting or playing. I added 14 ping pong balls on a wire with a larger plastic ball painted red in...

Good practice techniques for a beginner

I'm starting from scratch perse with my cue alignment being first. I put the CB on the line and a dime about 6-8" on the cloth lined up with CB and black rack spot. I shoot the CB at lag speed to start and gradually pick up the pace. This is letting me know head alignment, stance etc and helping...

two new elk master 13mm tip boxes in a row very hard / old?

I ordered a 10 pc box from Amazon. The closest billiard store has closed and I haven't tried ordering from them as they are doing on- line sales now. I used to go to the local shop in Toronto years ago and go thru the box of Elk and Blue Diamonds to pick out the ones I wanted. I used to bounce...

Good practice techniques for a beginner

I'm starting all over again after 20+ years of not playing and being 71 years of age. With health issues the past 1.5 years it's been a bit of an awakening but can't dwell in the past. I spend about 10-15 minutes a couple times per day just hitting balls around just to get the arm moving. It's...

We have a bunch of Dooly"s bar/poolrooms here in the east coast of Canada. A junior program was started and kids can go learn to play from 10:00 am till noon on weekends. I'm not sure how much participation they're getting but it's a step forward for pool
